71SWBChevy 11-20-2006, 12:13 AM Thanks for the recipe Krue, I will have to try this sometime soon!
It's good with Mexican blend shredded cheese.:D
71SWBChevy 11-20-2006, 12:32 AM What is shoe peg corn Krue? And is there something different that could be used? I think I know what it is but I am not sure, is it the corn with all the different colored corns in it plus pepers and stuff?
Jerry Jones 11-20-2006, 12:38 AM I looked it up, and it says it is a long white sweet corn... I've never heard of it either
71SWBChevy 11-20-2006, 12:44 AM hmm nevermind then, thanks for the research Jerry!
Crummy 11-20-2006, 08:36 AM The infamous taco soup. Thanks krue. How much is the shipping?
kingsolver72 11-20-2006, 09:13 PM Hey Krue,I made the taco soup for my wife and kids tonight. She loved it,partly because she didn't have to cook when she got home from work.It is a big hit around my house now.Thanks.
ChevyCrazy67 11-20-2006, 09:36 PM Great minds must think alike, thats what I had for supper tonight.

70blowngmc 11-21-2006, 07:44 AM That recipe makes a lot too, I ate it for a few days.:Dstays away from krue for a few days Whew!
jimfulco 11-22-2006, 12:53 AM Shoepeg corn has a whiter kernel and a slightly different taste from regular yellow corn. It's good stuff. The corn with red & green peppers is Mexicorn, also good stuff. They're right next to the other canned corn at the store.
My sister makes a very similar (if not the same) taco soup, and it's great. Anybody who hasn't tried it, do so immediately.
GMCMAX 11-26-2006, 10:13 PM Made a batch tonight, darn good after fightin the crowd in the city all day trying to pick up a few things.
5 of 5 chevy bowtie rating here

Thanks for sharing Krue!
special-K 09-23-2007, 06:31 AM Hamburger?Hmmm...musta substituted the Armadillo.Kinda hard to find around here,too.
I want to crank out a pot of this stuff.I think Safeway sells Mitchell canned shoepeg. It keeps a bit mote crunch than yeller.I bet it would be good topped the way I do chili:chopped raw onions, cheeze of choice, sliced pickled jalapenas, and crumbled tortilla chips.Maybe a dollup of sour cream? Some shakes of favorite hot sauce?BEER???????
That's the beauty of it, it's versatile! You can do whatever you like to it and it's still good!:D
Bishops Trucks 09-23-2007, 08:41 AM Thanks for the recipe Krue. I'll be trying it real soon.

shifty 09-23-2007, 05:51 PM Add some of my spicy turnip greens to it.
Ingredients:
(1) TBSP minced garlic
(2) TBSP Worcesteshire sauce
(2) TBSP Soy (I used Tamari, low sodium)
(2) Turns olive oil (or bacon grease/butter/our choice)
(1) 32oz vegetable oR chicken broth (Swanson makes in a carton, or use cans)
(1) 16oz turnip greens (or mustard greens, both well cleaned/chopped, get pre-washed/bagged from store)
(1) 10z can Rotel tomatoes (any can stewed tomatoes with green chiles works)
NOTE: substitute the Rotel with Italian style stewed tomatoes if you don't like spicy food
Optional:
(1) TBSP Louisiana hot sauce (can substitute w/white wine vinegar for less spice)
- Bacon grease, bacon crumbles or or ham hocks/ham bone for flavor
Preparation:
Mix together broth and other liquid ingredients. Saute your garlic till brown with butter/grease/olive oil. When garlic is browned, add turnip greens and the broth mix and reduce to medium heat, stirring every couple of minutes until greens soften to the level of the broth. Reduce to low heat and cover, simmering until greens are soft (usually 60-90 minutes @ low heat, simmering). Salt to taste.
special-K 09-23-2007, 10:57 PM Can I get canned taco soup somewhere?I don`t care what`s in it.Just want it easy.Better yet,cup-o-taco soup?I wouldn`t want to wash a bowl.
Dang Tim, wouldn't want you to hurt yourself with the can opener.
72BlckButy 09-28-2007, 02:17 PM A lady I work with has brought this in many times, and it is really good. She has also brought in White Chili (it uses chicken) Thanks for the receipe.
special-K 09-29-2007, 03:07 PM I made it last night.Just finished another bowl.I used onr packet of the "hot" taco seasoning, the beans were chili beans(pinto, kidney, and uh...)I added garlic, the whole kernal corn was Mexican-style,and more like 2.5# of ground beef because of how it was packaged.I also added some Texas-style chili powder, more cummin, and some of the red cap Adobo. That stuff is great!!!
BACKYARD88 01-27-2008, 01:12 AM I made some of this the other night. Had to fight the urge for a third bowl. Everyone at Missy's work is eating the left overs right now. Very good stuff!
