Hey guys,

I just got off the phone with the show organizer, Charlie Cobble, and he gave me the date for the 2007 Nats in Maggie Valley, NC. I know that some of us were concerned that they might not have it this year, BUT THEY ARE!!!!!! He told me that he would be updating the website on Monday. For those of you who haven't been to one of these shows they are the best. Nothing like spending time at a show that has nothing but trucks and a TON of 67-72 board members.

Where does everyone stay, (hotel/motel/camp ground?). Maybe I can talk the ole man into a trip. Or I can go alone ( as long as I get to go).

Margaret, the best place to stay is the Comfort Inn. It's right next door to the fairgrounds. You can just walk over. Last year the show had the Days Inn as the hotel that was sponsoring, but everyone I talked to said it was a dump. Also it's about 5-10 minutes from the fairgrounds.

I went ahead and checked on a room at the Comfort Inn and unlike last year the price is a bit higher. Don't know if they know the show is coming this year and want to jack up the rooms or what.

We also will probably meet up on the east side of Nashville and caravan over like we did last year. So you can follow us over.

Last year being the first time there they didn't know what to expect. This year they know that they can sell out every room so you can bet it will be higher. What did they quote for a room for this year?

I believe on their website and travelocity it was $80 a night. Last year it was $55.

IS this the same All Chevy GMC Truck Nationals that that was in Pigeon Forge? I haven't been to a show in a while. If not, do they still have the one in Pigeon Forge?

This is the same show but it was moved to Maggie valley N.C. last year. It was my first show and I had a ball.

trlrider77-like Ron said they moved it to Maggie Valley last year. A lot nicer then Pigeon Forge, none of the crap around the show. Lots of beautiful scenery.

I can't either. I just hope that I have a truck to take this year. From the looks of things I'll be in the Buick. But this time last year I didn't even think I could go.

This will be our 9th year going to this show! I may flip a coin to decide which one to bring this year. 71see10 told me that he'll be coming this year. His brother in law/next door neighbor just bought this little jewel so I'm pretty sure he will be making the trip with us this year.

If Nubomb meets up with us we will have quite a caravan coming in from the south. Depending on what time you guys head over maybe we can meet you around Knoxville for the last leg of the trip.

Would be an honor for me if that happens, mine will NOT be in the show ;)

Cmon Craig, It's cheaper to put your blazer in the show then it is to pay an admission fee for three days. Besides, then you are eligeable for the door prizes.

Count me in for that honor also. Would be freaking awesome to have at least 5 of us(with our trucks) going down I-40 towards Maggie Valley.

I'm ready!! Is it time yet??? I always enjoy this show.I like it in Maggie Valley better. At least they have a place to have the show. The last year at PF the show trucks were parked side by side with the family truckster mini-vans driven by vacationing people who had no idea they were even parked next to someones pride and joy classic. It took me less than 10 min from I-40 to get to Maggie Valley(the last time I took I-40 to PF was almost 2 hours).I did learn a back way from a local in PF that helped a lot when I came up I-75.
I'm thinking of staying in one of the Mom and Pop places this year.It would have to be better than the host hotel last year.

Comfort Inn is where I will be, you walk out of the backside of their lot
to a short alley, and whamo, you're at the fairgrounds gate, like 2 min.

http://www.autoshows.cc/ Charlie has his site up and running again. We haven't yet made a descision on where we will be staying. We are considering finding a cabin somewhere in the area. Anyone think they might be interested in a run to Deal's Gap sometime over the weekend? People come from all over the country and Canada for the experience of driving this road. According to the map the gap is maybe 1.5hrs away from Maggie Valley at the most. Here's a link to Deal's Gap info http://www.tailofthedragon.com/ My wife keeps mentioning going over to Cherokee to the casino sometime over the weekend. I don't really have any interest in it but may go just to say that I have been.

Deals Gap is wicked, I would be up for us classics running it, but when?
I am pretty sure I will be at the Comfort Inn, my only detail to work out
before then is what will I be driving, I would really like to drive "Merlot"

Craig I was kind of thinking of going to the gap after lunch on Saturday. I want to get whatever I drive cleaned back up from the road and judged on Friday (if I have it judged at all). It seems like I remember some of the members cooked out for lunch last year. I thought after lunch would be a good time to head over to the gap.

No, I didn't have to. But I wanted to so I did. Of all the pictures I have shown people that come over I get more questions about the restaurant than anything else. Nobody believes you can pack people in that tight.

Well, I made my first run to Deal's Gap today! The Nats is just way to close to this road for us to not go make a run through it at some point of the weekend. The scenery is impressive and the road is unbeliveable!

My brother (who rides motorcycles in the area) says that the Foothills parkway is another great road that we can use to make a loop back towards Maggie Valley. He said this road has a (or multiple) 420* turn(s). In other words, you are turning while dropping elevation and go through a tunnel to pass under the section of road you were just on. Crazy Huh!?:metal:
