So just curious...why doesn't my '63 have turn signal indicators on the dash ?? When I rewired the truck, I did find the L and R bulb wires, but no place to go. However there was an empty spot (1) for a bulb in the right lower section of the cluster. When I painted the dash, I covered it with electrical tape to block the dash lights from shining thru. Any idea what that extra hole is for ?? :help:
Did a '63 have no dash trun signal idicators ??
Thanks

I think the hole you covered up is the signal indicator. I don't think there's a left and right, just one bulb that blinks no matter which way you're signaling. Not sure if that is 100% accurate, but that's the way it is in my '62, and it was pretty unmolested when I got it.

I have no idea. but If thekid54 is correct you had better pay attention how you wire it! By connecting the wires for a turn signal together there you may end up turning on the flashers every time you hit a turn signal!

My 62 is like that as well, and IIRC, I have a dash out of a 60 or 61 that is the same way...

Thats the only think I could come up with.
If that is the case, then the hole I covered up is also missing a cardboard tube as well as the socket.
The harness has a L & R wire..if that bulb was to flash with either side, then the harness should of been wired that way...... but it has two seperate wires.
Anyway, someone added one of those external "Signal-Stat" turn-signal swicthes....which has a bulb that flashes for either side.
Like I said I was just curious about the fact that I had two wires, and no place for them to go !!!

As thekid54 said
my '63 has one indicator for l&r signals
Maybe the wires are from a '64????

That is probably the case. Two old guys were "fart'n" around under this dash...(actually the whole truck)
Who knows what they did. Anyway, I was just curious as this is the first old school C-10 I've owned. I'll just leave the light in the Signal Stat
Thanks guys.......

my 66 had a R and L signal light on the dash. i couldn't find mine but ended up shining a light behind the gauges and saw the indicators.

My 63 is the same way. From my recollection some of the early trucks had only one indicator. Look at it this way, if a light is blinking, it is either left or right. I just think it is another cool feature of these trucks. It was a simpler time!
