Yeah, I'd leave the lip.

I'm just thinking about the fake business on the doors and the whole chrome wheels not going with the theme.

Looking good and do the wheels black. That would give you a bad a$$ look..

Okay, went by there today to take some more progress pics. They got the rear wheel arch's in and the 88-98 gas door in also. It's getting there!!

it looks like they are doing great work. are they or can they do anything to address the rust in the inner bedsides?

It is getting there. Can't wait to see when the panels are finish welded.

5150
10-18-2007, 07:10 PM
Not sure Keith, I assume that there is nothing that can be done besides replacing the bedsides altogether.

Went back to the shop yesterday while I was in the area and I was excited to see all of the progress. The thing is I forgot my camera so I took some shots with my phone. They actually came out pretty good.

5150
11-02-2007, 04:18 PM
Earl and I were talking on the phone a little while ago about that. I've been wanting to go with the Hot Rod Flatz Black, but when I went to their site I saw the Flatz Red and it got me thinking

Go with some color! Everyone does satin black. I really like their metallics- maybe a green or blue if you're feelin' froggy...

5150
11-02-2007, 11:47 PM
I know everyone does, but I like it. I saw a 47-54 that had the flat red on it at a cruise in a few weeks ago. It looked awesome. Could still do the black Line-X and that would look pretty cool. Of course I have tan seats not sure how that would look.

meathead95
11-03-2007, 05:00 PM
your gonna line x the inside? that will look neat flat red with black linex interior. i take it you are not running carpet and all the trim?

hotrodhomi
11-03-2007, 05:40 PM
If you ever plan on selling it I wouldn't Line-X it. I think that most people would shy away from anything with line-x on the inside. But if you like it and are not worried about ever selling it, do it.

earl87gta
11-03-2007, 07:48 PM
I think he should go with one of the flat blues. and maybe flames in the metallics

5150
11-03-2007, 10:13 PM
Yeah, but not sure how the tan cloth seats will look with the flat red and black line-x.

i hear yah i am building my blazer with ALL nos sheetmetal and plan to line x it inside and underneath for superior rust protection. i think as long as you have pics of it before the line x youll be fine if you ever decide to sell it.

Yeah, but not sure how the tan cloth seats will look with the flat red and black line-x.

Can't you get the line-x tinted? Would look pretty cool if the line-x on the inside matched the red or even the tan. If you can't do it with the brand line-x, I know you can with some of the other ones. I think t-rex linings can be tinted. Might be worth looking into.

The progress is coming along good. Nice to see it getting done. Why did you decide to sell your truck?

Their sure is alot of work going into this one! I was just wondering why you did not go with new bed sides with the amount of work they are doing? What are your plans for suspension?

Mosly Kevin because I'm a cheapa$$. I'm going with 2 inch drop coils on the front w/drop spindles. Bags in the rear. No tank or compressor. BIG sway bar up front. All new suspension parts, nothing special.

Wow, the engine looks great. What's the plan with the door tops? Are you just going to use flat stock and cap them off?

5150
11-23-2007, 07:40 AM
Yes, they have some flat steel that they are going to put over them. and also the channel on the door frame where the vent window goes.

earl87gta
11-23-2007, 08:14 AM
looks good all orange but where is the blue?

5150
11-23-2007, 10:43 AM
Decided to pass on that idea. Didn't think it would look too good. I guess I could go with the flat blue???

well, they got a lot more done on the blazer. Went by today and took some pics. They told me they thought they could have it finished up in primer by the end of next week. He said the hard part is over with all the panels, so it's just down to the bodywork. They capped the other door and window channel and worked on the bed. Also installed David's(woodridge) dash he let me have when we swapped for the A/C. Looking good. Getting excited!!!!!!!!

I got in touch with a guy that my body guy recommended up by him to sandblast the frame for me with the body on for a little over a $100. I think he's going to go get it from my body guy when he's done and then I'll get it from him when he's done blasting it. Hopefully, I can have it back by the first of the year. :)

Got a lot of new parts in the garage and more coming for Christmas, hopefully. YIPPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!

hey guys, need some opinions on something real quick. There is a board member on 67-72 that had his instrument bezel and glove box door line-x'd and it looked really good. Don't have the pic because I can't find it. But it got me thinking of what else to line x without getting carried away. The only other thing I was thinking about was the radio delete and maybe the metal door panels/without arm rest holes.

What do you think?

LUV2XCLR8
12-25-2007, 03:31 AM
If your staying Rat Rod style I think it works. Would it be too much Black?
(Assuming that the Line-X inside the tub is going to be Black like exterior)

5150
12-25-2007, 03:32 AM
Yeah it will. I found a pic of the other board member I was talking about.

Before you get to carried away with the line-x, just a reminder. Pollen Season! It seems like that crap gets in every lil crack and crevice and is a boog to get out. I know you're doing the floor and I proably would as well on a topless project. Have you thought about having your seats and door panels done in marine vinyl? That might look better and be near impervious to the occaisonal shower. I've got a pic (film not digital) somewhere of an early mustang that was completely covered in that vinyl! The owner said his father had bought the car new and drove it for years and then parked it. When they decided to get it back out it really needed paint but they didn't know how to paint. The guys did interiors for a living so they disassembled the car and covered every panel with marine vinyl! Kinda odd, but interesting. I'll see if I can find the pic and scan it so I can post it.

5150
12-25-2007, 04:09 AM
I know what you mean Asa about the pollen. I don't plan to drive it if there is a chance of rain and I plan on getting a universal car cover if for some reason I get stuck in a "small" shower. Which probably rules out bringing it to Maggie Valley :)

FRENCHBLUE72
12-25-2007, 04:21 AM
I dont care who ya are or where ya live your gonna get caught in the rain sooner or later and long as you keep on driving the rain goes right over ya..

I like the glove box matching the gauge cluster, It gets my vote. I'm not sold on the line-x floor but I'm not completely against it either.

I think I would have to line the kick panels as well. I'd try to get anywhere that would collect water as waterproof as possible.

Yeah, the kick panels are going to get it also.

travis, I'm going to bag it in the rear. Nothing special though, no c-notch or anything. Just want the nice ride. Going to run a schrader valve to the license plate bolt and adjust it there. Can always do more later if I want. Got some 2600 firestones the other day for $100 so getting excited to get her back.
