tvblazer78 01-11-2008, 07:42 AM Sweet that's my color!
Thanks,
Trav
The date for Maggie Valley is May 2, 3, and 4th.
I'm going with a flat black, probably the Hot Rod Flatz Black
Yeah, but no gloss, satin finish
meathead95 01-11-2008, 11:10 AM i thought you where going to use flat red?
gringoloco 01-11-2008, 11:21 AM It's come a long way! This one is gonna be
smbrouss70 01-11-2008, 01:36 PM Brian,
I just noticed that you haven't modified the windshield frame at all. Are you leaving it alone so that "IF" you want to run a top at a later date, all you have to do is change doors?
steve, I just left it alone because I don't care for the look of the ones that are tilted back. I just like the look of the yellow one on my first post.
I can't believe it's been a month since I posted any news in this thread.
Problem is I don't have any more pics. Still waiting on them to shave the visor holes and finish the driver's side rocker box.
GOOD NEWS!!!!!!!!--I talked to my friend that works down at the NADC and he said they would paint it for me when the bodywork is done.
hotrodhomi 02-14-2008, 11:42 AM Shaving the visor holes? Better wear a hat.
Anybody got any speaker ideas for me??
Part of me says screw it just cut into the doors for speakers, I mean if I cut the doors down for a roadster then what does it matter to cut into the door for a speaker.
I'm not into the big sub thing, but I do LOVE it loud. Of course with a roadster not sure how much you are going to hear, but I'm going to try :)
72BlckButy 02-29-2008, 05:38 PM This thing is coming right along.... going to be one sweet ride!
meathead95 02-29-2008, 05:41 PM i would build a custom console and put them in it under the dash. my brother had some
6" speakers like this and they where connected inside the console with a carboard tube (like a sealed box) and they jammed
meathead95 02-29-2008, 05:42 PM got any updated pics
yeah, we've hit a bit of a roadblock. The burb I traded them for the body work he sold to a friend. No big deal as long as he finishes my blazer. Problem is that the seller is having a problem getting tags for it in KY, so they're dragging their feet till I get the title issues worked out on the burb.
I assume they don't want to finish it until I get the title worked out. I wouldn't just leave them hanging like that it's not me, but I understand holding the blazer till it gets resolved is their option.
Yukon Jack 02-29-2008, 06:38 PM Can't see any reason not to cut your doors for speakers if that is where you want them. You'll do a good job making them fit right in and it's not like you couldn't fill the holes later.
hilljob26 02-29-2008, 07:15 PM i gotta say, that baby is coming along nicely.i cant wait till i find be a blazer to start on.the hardest part is just getting one
NONHOG 02-29-2008, 09:02 PM [QUOTE=5150;2602376]Anybody got any speaker ideas for me??

W/O door glass to get in the way why not lean the top part of your speakers back in the doors so they are pointed toward your ears as opposed to your feet . If you recess them right you could cover them with grills to kinda hide them ?
Okay guys, went and picked it up yesterday. It's still got a lot block sanding to be done to get it ready for paint but at least it's in my garage :)
Palf70Step 03-17-2008, 02:31 AM Good news!!
Home where she belongs.
Ron 586 03-17-2008, 09:32 AM And now the fun starts. Congrats on making it happen to this point. I have no doubt you will see it through.
smbrouss70 03-17-2008, 09:42 AM Progress is good. I wish I had more time to do anything besides stare at mine. After seeing it the day you got it from Craig, I believe you can save anything.
thanks Steve
Okay guys, got some help from a board member sntrym95 that came down to pick up the tonneau cover, Ketih(moedaman), and my neighbor today and we lifted the tub off of the frame. NEVER DO IT WITH JUST 4 PEOPLE. :)
Got alot done today, or at least I feel like I did. Hit the frame with about two cans of oven cleaner and then got the pressure washer out. It cleaned up decent, not as good as I thought, but it's caked on there pretty good.
Also got the saw zaw, grinder(which I killed), and cut off tool. Cut all of the old exhaust hangers off, the emergency brake cables, cut about 3 more inches off of the back of the frame, and yanked all 4 shocks off. Also grinded off the rivets for the upper shock mounts to get it ready for the CPP kit. Took out the fuel tank and the rear coil springs.
Here are some pics of the frame before I sprayed it off and after. Also some pics of the frame after my work was done today.
was Halen out there helping with the tires in the first pic? ;)
How could you tell?? Brings a whole new meaning to chalking the tires :5150:
Well, I sold my silver stepside so I'm putting this thing into high gear. I'm bringing a lot of parts and my frame to the sandblaster this week and then on to the powdercoater.
Also ordered my rear disc brake kit from Blackbirds Custom Trucks.
Big J 04-22-2008, 05:36 PM Awesome stuff! What are the plans for suspension? Bags? notch? 20's? I'm too lazy to read back through, lol...
Not alot going on right now. The tub is sitting in the garage and the frame is at the sandblaster with alot of other parts.
I did buy some wheels yesterday for it with the help of gringo and Tim Christian.
I finally ordered them today while we were at dinner. Mandi said I could so I didn't wait. Had the number in my phone.
Coy Wheels
20x8.5 up front
22x9 in the rear
meathead95 05-11-2008, 03:07 PM you know there is a coys dealer in lebanon that gives smokin deals. and has most of them in stock.
bagged74 05-11-2008, 05:07 PM glad to see you went with the coys instead of those boss wheels. that 20/22 combo should look bad a$$
I talked to all of the dealers in the area Keith. It was cheaper to go this route, just for the tax alone.
Big J 05-22-2008, 10:54 PM So whats the good word? Any progress? Wheels come in? Pics? Come on, show us the good stuff!!!
Everything is still in pieces and at the sandblaster. Tub is still sitting in my garage.
I think the wheels are coming today. I did get the rear disc brake kit from Blackbirds Customs.
Thanks to Randy and Drink for the great deal.
LUV2XCLR8 05-23-2008, 12:27 AM The stepper is gone, so where's the progress pic's? :hm:
(I have no room to talk, my frame is only 50% stripped)
Wheels came today :metal::metal::metal::metal::metal::metal::metal::metal::metal::metal:
jaros44sr 05-23-2008, 03:14 AM Nice choice, shame they don't come in 6 lug. All time favorite look of wheel
FRENCHBLUE72 05-23-2008, 03:18 AM Very nice.....
meathead95 05-24-2008, 10:59 PM nice rims. are you an officer again?
yeah, found out I'm not good at anything else :) I still own my vending route so I'm going 24/7
Palf70Step 05-25-2008, 01:20 AM I guess I better behve at the meet then, can't afford no teekits! :D
Got all of my stuff back from the sandblaster. With the help of my wife we've got alot done in just under two days. Also finished up the brackets for the motor. Just need to bolt the fan on and get a belt :)
Here's some pics:
LUV2XCLR8 06-09-2008, 04:39 AM :metal:
Rokcrln 06-09-2008, 06:10 AM Now were talking, looks great! Hey do your self a favor and before you start putting the frame together put a good 2 coats of wax on the frame and on all the parts as they go on. It will help theym stay clean and wipe down real easy plus it will look even more bad a$$ than it already does. If I can what range did the wheels cost you (PM me if you want) and who did you get them from? Only a 13 day turn around is not bad!
Kevin
LFD Inc.
Thanks for the tip about the wax. I'll try that tomorrow afternoon.
I'm going to try to use Chuck's(thelonerife) dolly that he got from you to put the body back on. Hoping that it will work on a blazer :)
hotrodhomi 06-10-2008, 12:52 AM Are you bagging this thing? If you are you might want to hack those bump stop brackets off of your LCA before you mount them and run out of paint. Project looks good, keep up the good work.
tvblazer78 06-10-2008, 02:13 PM Sweet!!!! Keep it up Bryan..
Not bagging the front just the rear and running valves out the rear.
Thanks Trav, too bad you aren't in town you could come by.
Hope to have the front end done and tires on by the end of the day. :)
tvblazer78 06-11-2008, 08:50 AM :metal:
Maybe next week I will be down your way. I will let you know..
Big J 06-11-2008, 11:31 AM Hope to have the front end done and tires on by the end of the day. :)
Good deal, we hope to see some pics!
I'v got the laptop in the garage with me, so I can update on a regular basis.
Here's what I've gotten done.....went by my buddies this morning and used some of his tools to get the upper and lower control arms together and the lower ball joints in.
The problem is that the studs on the bags are too short to go through the c-notch and the frame, so they are up for sale.
Flipping the frame over as after I get done typing. Happy

Well, pretty good day overall. I thought I had a big problem at first. I drilled the holes for the air bags and the big hole for the air line to go into. One problem with the C-notch there the studs on the top of the bags won't go all the way through to the inside of the frame rail. So I was scared to death that I just drilled 6 holes for nothing. I called my friend Jason Bullock and he told me that the Slam Specialties Bags have the same hole alignment, and you have to use a bolt to go down inside the bag. So I'm selling my firestone bags and I'll buy some of the RE-7 Slams.
Other then stripping out one of the lower control arm U-bolts I'd say I had a pretty good day. Got all of it done that I wanted to get done other then getting the sway bar on, brake hoses, and shocks. For some stupid reason the shocks didn't come with new bolts. I went to Ace but some how grabbed the wrong size and couldn't do it. For the sway bar, there is no holes on the frame so more drilling YIPPEE!!!!!!!!!!!! Sad
lyrikz 06-12-2008, 12:47 PM Very similiar builds we have /yoda.
Same rim combo, and im not running bags in the front either.. Just re7s in the rear...
I want to see your exhaust routing when you get to that point
LUV2XCLR8 06-12-2008, 03:43 PM Hey B, are those fronts on backwards? (You know why I am asking, right?)
:) Chuck(thelonerife) stopped by last night to look at it and I noticed it. I told him I bet Craig mentions something about the tires being on the wrong side.
I was grinding away on the rotor so they would fit over the hub. Mandi rolled them too me. I didn't care what side was what. After all day I just wanted to see what they look like :)
okay, got the shocks on and got the upper shock relocators on but now I'm pulling my hair out by trying to get this tank in. Called Tim and he tried to explain it over the phone but I'm not grasping it. Thought I'd take a pic and see if anybody could help. I'm sure it's common sense, but well you know. Tim said it went from right to left if that helps. I assumed that meant that the J-hooks went on the pass side.
Just not understanding the straps. They are different then any of the other ones I've seen in other threads.
hgs_notes 06-14-2008, 01:10 AM Don't ya just bolt the driver side of the strap up to the fraame, then put the J bolts in the passenger side, then set tank up where it belongs and hook the J into the passenger side end of the straps?
original_balzer 06-14-2008, 03:28 AM I bought a 69 blazer tub once that was shaved of everything doors and tailgate welded up too. windsheild was chopped 8" and leaned back. It had a huge consel that went front to back the inside was all flat sheet metal on the sides and doors. It was full on roadster status with some unusual exterior body mods.
I bought it thinking I could UN-do most of it and use the tub for my 72 4x4 blazer. In the end I hauled it to the scrap yard cuz 1) it was too much work and 2) I couldnt sell it or give it away at the time. It was rather hideous truthfully. You could hardly tell it was a 69-72 blazer.
BUT every since then I thought it would be sweet to have a nice 2wd blazer minus all ( or at least most) of the mods that one had.
VERY COOL!
lyrikz 06-14-2008, 11:03 AM okay, got the shocks on and got the upper shock relocators on but now I'm pulling my hair out by trying to get this tank in. Called Tim and he tried to explain it over the phone but I'm not grasping it. Thought I'd take a pic and see if anybody could help. I'm sure it's common sense, but well you know. Famous message board line "son if you cant figure out how to install that gas tank, you probably shouldnt take on this kind of project"
I hate when people say that. Bolt the left side up, NOT tight, just enough to hold that and the tank in place. Install the J bolt, then lift up the strap and put it in the j bolt. Tighten as necessary...
Sometimes you will run into things that are SUPER easy but will just stump you.. Mine for example was removing the cigarette lighter... 2 hours later a buddy came over and had it out in 35 seconds. ahaha
Keep up the good work man.
bagged74 06-14-2008, 11:22 AM are the straps bent the wrong way? its really pretty easy once you figure it out.
meathead95 06-14-2008, 11:39 AM yes his straps are bent backwards
thanks lyrikz, I know how people are on here. Just like our mother's said "if you have nothing to say nice then..." Yes, pretty embarassing that I put the whole front end together bu can't figure out how to put in the gas tank. I appreciate the help, never understand why people won't answer board members easy questions, it's like they're trying to teach them a lesson.
Yes, I think they are bent backwards. I'll try it and picturing it like that seems like it will work.
Palf70Step 06-14-2008, 05:27 PM Brian
Check out my build thread the pictures will help you on th tank.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=221437
I didn't use the j-bolts (I couldn't find where I stored them  ). I just used threaded rods instead, but you'll get the idea.
meathead95 06-14-2008, 05:27 PM did you get the pics i sent you on your phone? i also left you a voicemail?
OK guys, been up since Monday at 2:30. When I got off this morning, I had to do the route all day and my mother wanted to take us out for my dinner for fathers day....so naturally, I chose Toots again. Got home around 9 pm and saw my rear end out behind the garage. So it didn't matter how tired I was....I wanted to attempt to get it installed. I ended up crushing 3 fingers on my left hand between the trailing arm and the concrete floor. I got both of the u bolts through, but need new nuts that I will get tomorrow at Ace. Then I realized that rear disc brake brackets and spacers were put on wrong. The spacer was put on first instead of the bracket. I'm sure that he already filled it with fluid, so it will be a mess to fix. I'm going to install the rear end and bags and deal with that while its on the frame. I will get some pics up tomorrow of the progress I have made.
P.S. My fingers hurt so bad that Mandi had to type this........So she says that is why this paragraph is punctuated correctly
Going to bed

Got alot done today. Rear end is up and in, the gas tank is up and in and it's on all 4's.
tdave00 06-19-2008, 04:25 AM I am a little late to the party, but it it is looking sweet Bryan. I'll stop by this weekend to pick those bags up.
thanks for the kind words. That's cool about the bags I'll be here all weekend.
Bags are mounted. Just need to run the elbow and the line. Gonna be a challenge in that tight space.
pcorriveau951 06-21-2008, 01:54 AM 5150, the roadster is coming along very nicely, i just look thru your thread again and dont know if i over looked it or just isnt in here, but what size tires are you running front and rear? I read your running a 20/22 combo but didnt see the tire size.
Thank you, Phil
235/55/20's up front
285/35/22's out back
Got the brake lines done and the bags plumbed. So far they're holding good air through the schrader valves. We'll see in the morning if the pressure is the same. Got it outside to take some better pics and to pull the tarp out to clean all of the shavings and crap that I've dropped on there in the past 10 days.
Also got the motor bolted in but don't have the tranny cleaned up yet.
gringoloco 06-22-2008, 07:54 PM Lookin' good! I like the wheels ;) Have you figured out how to wire up that alternator yet?
nope, not yet. I wired one up on my stepside, but don't remember how I did it or where I got the info on how to do it.
If you find it let me know :5150:
gringoloco 06-23-2008, 01:28 AM I just wired mine up tonite. Looks to be the exact same setup as yours. Stole mine off a '94 S10 Blazer 4.3 Vortec. The 'L' terminal needs resistorized(?) 12V switched; the 'F' terminal gets 12V switched. I used a resistor from Radio Shack to simulate the light bulb for the 'L' circuit- everything I've read says without the resistor or bulb the regulator will meet an early demise...
If you don't mind when I'm at that point I'll hit you up on a PM.

On mine, I actually installed a colored bulb (non-LED) under the dash. It is "on" when the key is on but the alternator is not turning. So, in my case, if I throw the belt or the alternator stops putting out power, the bulb will light...like a 'warning' of-sorts.
Keep those pics coming. That thing is starting to take shape. Wonder if Craig regrets yet???
BACKYARD88 06-24-2008, 11:39 AM Wow, I missed this one for a while:D Looks good B!
