My water pump needs to be changed as it is leaking and making noise. Is this something I should do myself or have someone else do? If I should do it myself, does anyone have any tips? thanks

What motor is it?? kna4977 11-25-2006, 09:24 AM It's the 5.7 Big Block 11-27-2006, 08:56 PM Does it have the original radiator hoses and water pump bypass hoses? Now might be a good time to change them. The bottom radiator hose clamp is a little tricky. Its pretty tight down there. kaycee 11-27-2006, 10:31 PM Seperating the fan from the pump can be a pain allso, I used a oil filter strap wrench to hold the pulley and then broke the nut loose. bcj67chevy 11-28-2006, 10:27 AM They do make a fan clutch tool that can be rented that makes it a lot easier to take the clutch off. After you get the clutch off its a breeze. |
