Last year about this time of year my 1996 V6 started missing.. I ended up spending about $300 bucks to get my plugs changed... Safe to say I dont want to go threw that again. Where do I start? Isnt there machines that can connect to your computer and tell you what set off your Check Engine LIght?

yes you can go to just about any parts store and pick up a code scanner and its a worthwhile investment if you plan on keeping the truck the scanner will have directions on how to work it, not hard at all hope i've been helpful, now that i think about it though a lot of parts store like autozone will read the codes for you if you bring it in

My '96 had a random miss after I did the intake job. Never when cold, but was the worst when warm, and holding the brake at a stop light. Everything looked good so I could not find the problem. Finally, I got it warm and missing, then held the brake in "D" while my buddy fogged the spark plugs with a water mist. One plug wire had a TINY rip in the boot, allowing the spark to jump out. 5 minutes to replace the boot, and all is good now.

Have you CEL checked out with a scanner at the local Advanced, AutoZone, or wherever. They will do this for free. It should tell what is wrong. My guess is O2 Sensor
