Well my Autometer tach decided to stop working, the darn thing decided to shoot to 9 grand and stick. I have checked all my grounds and powers all of them shot good along with my tach signal coming from my msd box. I'm pretty sure I have troubleshot it down to a bad tach. If I am missing any steps please give me some direction. Also contemplating wiether I should send it in for a repair (aprx $30 shipping both ways and anywhere up to about 60 bucks to fix it) or just get a new one for just over $100. Thanks guys.

That sux. I would send it in, as the guys @ Autometer might be able to give you some info on why it died.

Do you have an internal or external voltage regulator? My external regulator went bad and fried the resistor, reostat or something like that in my tach.

I have an internal. It's kinda funny you brought that up b/c my alternator just went bad. Thanks for help. Now I just need to decide if I want to send it in for repair or just get a new one.

When the alt is replaced, the tach should work. I had the same thing happen before and that was the problem.

It is possible what 64 C-10 said but then again it fried my tach and swelled up my battery when it happened.
