I'm wanting to backup my music and picture files that I have on my computer, but when I put in the dvd-r, the box to burn, never came up. So I went to my computer, and pulled up the dvd-rw drive, and it had a disk there, but will not allow me to burn information onto the disk. Any ideas? I've never burnt to a dvd-r,..., so I'm not sure if there is a different process or what. Any help would be appreciated. I have burnt on CD-r's and so forth, but never a dvd-r. Thanks in advance!

What program are you using to burn the information to disc?
Nero? EZ CD Creator? SmartBurn? Just curious.

I believe that it is Nero

Normally, when you start Nero, you need to designate whether you are burning a CD or DVD.

When I get home this evening, I will check that out. It seemed rather odd that it would allow me to burn a cd-r and not a dvd-r. Oh well, most likely an oversite on my part. Thanks for the help!

As a point of reference, when I start Nero, I do not use the Wizard - the first window I see is this one below - notice in the top left-hand corner, there is a Dropdown that says "CD". This can be toggled to CD or DVD. Changing that value will change your options for what you can burn. Hope this helps.
