Heres a list of issues and info i have with the '73 Blazer I just aquired, let me know if you have any input.

No dash lights but when I turn the headlight switch halfway thru its arc the right blinker light stays on and so does the highbeam indicator.
When I turn the headlights on the gas guage goes to E
No interior dome lights even thought bulbs are good
All fuses are good to go.

Could this be a bad headlight switch or maybe a faulty printed circuit?

you need to start by adding a ground strap to the inst panel. The fact that the fuel guage acts stupid is a dead give away.
Your high beam and turn signal lights may act right after that too.

That fix was on my short list, thanks for the confirmation. I should be spending some time on it this weekend when I install the HEI dizzy I ordered...any tips on that install?

On your main harness that goes to the guage cluster there is a black ground wire about 7 inches up from the fuse panel. If it is broken or disconnected it will do as you describe. That wire is the cluster ground wire. I replaced my after market gauges last weekend with stock and had the same issue.

Thanks for stopping in and sharing. I will let you know when I get her all fixed up and what the problem was. I LOVE this site.:metal:

Well I got my bulk wedged under the drivers side dash to take a look at things and the black ground wire coming out of the loom about 10" from the fuse box is grounded to the e-brake bracket (is that ok?). I also noted some 'flaking' of the printed circuit, could that cause the guage lights not to work? The only light I get comes out of the high beam and right turn signal lights when I turn the headlight switch a certain way. :help:
