The more I look at this new 53 the more parts I find that need maintaince in the front end.
So here is the question,
I have the front suspension that I removed from my 55 1st series GMC and I want to replace it in my 53 I would do this at the pitman arm and spring, shackel bolts and brake hoses.
Are the deminsions the same, is this going to work, it looks like a bolt in situation. Just a HEAVY wrestling match!!!

Not sure on the front end, but the rear of the chassis on the 54-5 1st series trucks is different than the 47-53. If you use the same bed/year combo, you should be :aiiet:

Thanks Daniel U, I fixed the rear end with a 9" ford and a Saginew 4 speed.
Now I need to fix the front end !!!!
I have a front suspension from a 55 1st series, I just want to know if the springs shackles and pitman arm are the same so I can just un bolt one anr replace with the other!!!

This seems to to be too easy, so I guess it will NOT work !!!
