Quick over view,
Girl friends computer started to drag down, some virus, worm etc was sucking system resources 100%
Tried a few things, decided to install new hard drive, did a complete clean install.
Of course she didn't ever do any back ups so I installed the corrupted hard drive as a slave.
I need to get the files off of the old drive and use them with the clean install programs on the new drive.
Gave up on computers after going to XP, knew 98 and earlier great but XP not a clue after hours trying it.
I need to get her address book, saved emails from Netscape communicator
saved pixs from a couple of programs, kodiak etc
and her investment club info
Can you help, can't get to the files on the old drive.
Tried search with hidden files etc open
She set up her computer and now I am, once all this stuff is working it's back on her

I just went through the same issue this past weekend! The new boot couldn't read the slave drive no matter what I did. A friend told me to freeze the hardrive overnight and try again. At first it didn't work, but then it did, no kiddin'! Seems to work just fine now.

Need a clearer list of everything you need, specifically, for each program. Need lots more info. Glad to help.
