I would like to get the photoshop program so I can modify my vehicles. Do I need to spend $900 on a program or could I get a cheaper program that does what I need (I only need it for altering vehicles). I don't know anything about this program  so any info from you photoshop kings would be appreciated.

Thanks, desertrat

I think PS is difficult without understanding all of its options and powers. It is a very pricey program as well but very useful once you work with it. You almost need to buy one of the PS for Dummies books....

i think it's ported for mac, linux, and windows now. there's also PAINT.NET

for a good, free paint app, use Paint .Net from http://www.getpaint.net/index2.html

it's a lot like PS, but is free. Make sure that you download the version that includes the ".NET Framework 2.0". It's the one that is 49.2mb in size.

Yup, GIMP Win has been out for several years. You'll find that, while it's free, it's quirky (not necessarily buggy... just typical "freeware" that GNU tends to generate). If you're a pshop person, GIMP will drive you nuts as they have different names, shortcuts, and menus for many of the features you'd expect. I've been switching between the two for a few years (because I can't justify pshop on my work machine). But otherwise... great alternative to a pshop license.
