Yes we meet in Oklahoma, the past meets have been around the OKC metro area. I havent had the time lately to continue with this, but at the moment we do not have a meeting place... looking for ideas...

How about Thunder Valley drag strip? They do not have the 2007 schedule up yet but would everyone be ok with going to some drag races? We could all meet somewhere and then drive in together. Let me know....

(hey just occured to me, i have the first and last year of these trucks haha) i am 18 and ide love to get with other people with these trucks, these trucks are a passion of mine they are just amazing and being able to cruise down to thunder valley with a lot of them would just be killer... please make this work out for thunder valley... =) and count me in!!! if thats cool with yall....

Sorry I haven't been here in awhile. Hmm there is this pizza place in noble just north of the drag on the state highway. It is some good pizza and the people are great. Might just consider that. I can get some better directions too.

I might have the truck reliable enough to drive it that far, if not it might be the s10 that makes the trip.

I've got a suggestion.... What about everyone meeting at the lloyd noble center right off Highway 9 in norman pretty much and then we can head straight down to thunder valley in a single file line hahah... they have a huge parking lot so all of us could fit in...

actually since we were talking about friday nights, we could meet at Riverwind, and since most of us are males over the age of 18 we can get $10 credit from 6-10 on friday since it is guy's night

HotRod73, I agree except I am also looking at anyone that has to travel a bit to make it. If someone decided to drive from Lawton or Tulsa then they wouldnt have to take off work and rent a hotel. If its on Saturday they can leave early enough in the morning and leave earlier enough in the evening to not have to stay an extra night. I am just trying to make it easier for the majority of everyone to attend. The friday night events maybe a bit more exciting... but the Saturday event would give everyone a chance to be there and gives us more than enough time to hang out and look at eachothers rides and enjoy some drag racing.

bobthecop i believe you work with my mom... her name is kelly.. she was tellin me a guy named bob was interested in old style trucks like i am and his name was bob and works at the court house with her if i am wrong please forgive me..... pre-runner... anyday is fine by me... ill be bringin the 87 short bed once i get it in my possesion and fix it up more...just thought fridays were more fun but i guess its all the same if we all rode in together with our trucks lol...

what time are they open on that day? i usualy only go on fridays so not use to the times on saturday... either way im in just need to know a time and where to meet... perfect swing wouldnt be a bad idea...as long as they have enough parking for all of us lol

Aight I am in, I might drive the C10 we will have to see if I can get the tranny problem figured out and some safer wheels and tires. I actually got some work done on it today, since it was nice outside.

Heck yeah I would be in too. The '71 drivetrain should be done by then no prolem, plan on taking it to the board meet in July. I would like to see some local rides too.

I just found out my son and his wife and my grandson are coming from Colorado to visit in the weekend of June 9th, to see us and to go to the airshow, so that weekend is out for me. sorry would've loved to make it.

We will be in Del City and Muskogee this summer to visit family and we originaly planned on going in early June but it looks as though our school year will be lengthened due to snow days so now it's going to be mid July when we visit.

I have been rather busy lately with personal matters that have come up. If anyone wouldnt mind helping out that would be great...

i can help some way if needed... i will for sure be there rain or shine... the 73 is runnin great and the 87 will be done by then for sure..

Ok.. I think we pretty much have the place and date set. HOWEVER, should it rain the race track will shut down so an close alternate location should be considered.

Also, the type of meal needs to be considered. eat out? or BYO? if BYO, who will bring what? Eat out is easier.. but dont want to discourage anyone who may not have alot of money. (like me) It will take some people a tank of gas to get there and back.. at the going rate thats approx $40.. then add in more money for food.... just something to consider.

A meet up point also needs to be determined before we enter the race track. Also a time frame to meet and a time to roll out to the race, giving any stragglers time to catch up.

Let me know if you need help.. and if anyone else wants to pitch in please speak up.. Everyone always wants a meet and greet but rarely does anyone step up to help organize..

it may be best to byo or eatout either is fine by me, we could always have us a good ole cookout and tailgate party lol... i think the 73 just lost the oil pump so it wont be making it but i planned on bringing the 87 anyways... if it decides to rain i really cannot think of anywhere else to meet... i will keep my eyes and ears open if i find or hear of place good and close... as for the meeting spot... why dont we meet at either the lloyd noble center or perfect swing... i figured lloyd noble would be best, for those traveler's especialy because they could get off I-35 and get on hwy 9 and head to the lloyd noble plus the parking space is PLENTY big for anyone who decides to show up but perfect swing would be okay too, as long as there isnt any little kids celebrating some birthday parties lol... my advise is the lloyd noble center...
we could have everyone pitch in and we can bring some bbq grills and bbq and do some burgers or we could always stop at the pizza pedlers in noble or whatever... thats going to be something not everyone will probably agree on, because some will want one thing others will want other things thats why i thought grilling burgers and stuff would be cool, just have some people bring some of the supplies and have us some good ole burgers and hotdogs and enjoy the races... (tv is TOO high on their food so i wouldnt suggest anyone planning on eating there unless u wanna spend alot of $$) i would bring your own drinks too considering they were high on those as well last year... what does everyone else think???

I thought the lloyd noble would be the best place to meet. Never know how many people are going to actualy show up and we need to make sure we pick a place that has plenty of parking and the lloyd noble has just that... plus its pretty much right off hwy 9 and we can get to thunder valley from there fairly easy... as for the bbq why dont who ever wants to pitch in and the rest if they chose not to participate or feel like something else they can do their own thing. I figured on a nice day at thunder valley a bbq watchin races sounded like a great idea... i will pitch in and bring whatever i can we should start a list who ever wants to pitch in can, others dont feel bad its not required lol just dont make one person bring everything and turn around and eat all their food know what i mean?? lets all pitch in together everyone can bring something small...

Great idea on the drinks, so many people like different things so bringing your own drinks would be the best bet. I can bring whatever I need. I do not have a small grill to bring though (could probably find one between now and then if nobody else steps up) Hopefuly we will have a lot of people show up and have a great time. This will be my first. I can't wait to check out everyone's ride. Let me know what else I can do. So, so far we have decided that the meet will be Saturday June 9th, 2007 at thunder valley in noble. We will meet up at the lloyd noble center in norman and all drive in together. We have not set a meeting time. I have no clue what time they open for that day. I say we meet up and wait a bit to get as much people together as we can. The food will be a good old fasion bbq. We can do burgers and hot dogs. I can bring a gas grill. Only a 4 burner, so if someone else wants to bring a bigger one, just say so and I'll bring something else.

Okay people. This has been decided. Alot of people are interested, but not many people are stepping up to offer to bring items. We are not going to make one or two people responsible for feeding/supplying everyone with stuff... if nobody can step up and offer we should just cancel, there doesnt seem to be as much interest anymore... anyone wanna step up?

Say, can outsiders come to this? Meaning those folks from outside OK. Been too busy here lately, need a nice little road trip to lighten things up. I'll come up Saturday morning, stay the night, cruise back Sunday morning. I don't mind bringing a stack of "burger kits" (meat and buns!). Trying to finish my Vintage Air install this weekend.

I dont know if an official time has been set yet, it depends on what time the races start. I think 10am would be sufficient.

Expecting? well there were alot of people who showed interest in a meet. But looking back on this thread there seems to only be a handful of people who have said they would come or would try to come. And I believe someone has volunteered a grille and I think somone offered to bring the burgers....
