Prerunner1982 01-05-2007, 01:27 PM Yes we meet in Oklahoma, the past meets have been around the OKC metro area. I havent had the time lately to continue with this, but at the moment we do not have a meeting place... looking for ideas... Prerunner1982 01-10-2007, 01:47 PM How about Thunder Valley drag strip? They do not have the 2007 schedule up yet but would everyone be ok with going to some drag races? We could all meet somewhere and then drive in together. Let me know.... I am working with somone at the track to try and see if we can get something workout.. stay tuned! '71 Flame 01-23-2007, 11:58 PM Hi guys, i just wanted to take some time to invite you to the Cowboys for Kids Car Show April 14, 2007 on the campus of OSU. in the student union parking garage. Registration is at 10:00 am. There will be a Pre 85 Truck Class and Post 85 Class. Any questions let me know. All procedes go to St Jude Childrens hospital. Thanks, Chris 79BIG10 01-25-2007, 04:01 PM I might have to see about making a trip up there. HotRod73 01-26-2007, 09:47 AM i would LOVE to be able to do the thunder valley thing, come on guys lets make this the place and make it all work out, i will bring my 73 or 87.. (hey just occured to me, i have the first and last year of these trucks haha) i am 18 and ide love to get with other people with these trucks, these trucks are a passion of mine they are just amazing and being able to cruise down to thunder valley with a lot of them would just be killer... please make this work out for thunder valley... =) and count me in!!! if thats cool with yall.... Prerunner1982 01-26-2007, 11:03 AM I wish I had more feed back about all this.. I am also needing someone familiar with the area to scout a meeting place so we can call cruise in... st1x10 01-26-2007, 11:27 PM Sorry I haven't been here in awhile. Hmm there is this pizza place in noble just north of the drag on the state highway. It is some good pizza and the people are great. Might just consider that. I can get some better directions too. I might have the truck reliable enough to drive it that far, if not it might be the s10 that makes the trip. HotRod73 01-28-2007, 11:56 PM I've got a suggestion.... What about everyone meeting at the lloyd noble center right off Highway 9 in norman pretty much and then we can head straight down to thunder valley in a single file line hahah... they have a huge parking lot so all of us could fit in... '72hemieater 02-07-2007, 05:10 AM where is thunder valley I am in Muskogee? Prerunner1982 02-07-2007, 11:55 AM Its a bit south of OKC, and a bit east of Moore/Norman. 82c10 02-08-2007, 11:43 PM i'm in, but if i go for sure, i'll be driving something a little quicker than the rest of you, not a truck, what about meeting at perfect swing, or something like that, pm me, i don't check this board that often, are y'all gonna run the trucks? 82c10 02-09-2007, 12:00 AM actually since we were talking about friday nights, we could meet at Riverwind, and since most of us are males over the age of 18 we can get $10 credit from 6-10 on friday since it is guy's night Prerunner1982 02-09-2007, 11:04 AM The date isnt set yet. Still waiting for the schedule to be posted. I would like to keep it family friendly. As far as anyone racing thier trucks.. its completely up to them. It would be cool if some of us ran down the track. ocbaud 02-09-2007, 11:34 AM hmm... june 10th? thats a sunday unless something goes wrong, the truck should be drivable and i'll try to make this :) 82c10 02-09-2007, 03:00 PM the schedule is posted, here is a link>http://okthunder.com/schedule.htm st1x10 02-09-2007, 05:11 PM Sweet. I am in, hopefully I can get it reliable enough to drive down there. I will have to see though. And I won't be racing, but if anybody wants to I can bring the camera for some recording and throw it up on the net afterwards. Let me know on the date. Prerunner1982 02-09-2007, 05:20 PM Hows does June 9th (Sat) Beat the Heat-bracket racing sound? 82c10 02-11-2007, 02:59 PM [QUOTE=Prerunner1982;2024380]Hows does June 9th (Sat) Beat the Heat-bracket racing sound?[/QUOTEthats fine with me HotRod73 02-11-2007, 10:47 PM wouldnt it be best on a friday night? after all friday nights are test and tune and we could all test and tune our vehicles if we decided to... i think friday nights are best at thunder valley but whatever is decided is fine with me! Prerunner1982 02-12-2007, 10:48 AM HotRod73, I agree except I am also looking at anyone that has to travel a bit to make it. If someone decided to drive from Lawton or Tulsa then they wouldnt have to take off work and rent a hotel. If its on Saturday they can leave early enough in the morning and leave earlier enough in the evening to not have to stay an extra night. I am just trying to make it easier for the majority of everyone to attend. The friday night events maybe a bit more exciting... but the Saturday event would give everyone a chance to be there and gives us more than enough time to hang out and look at eachothers rides and enjoy some drag racing. bobthecop 02-13-2007, 01:08 PM I'm a Deputy Sheriff in Cleveland County, Thunder Valley sounds great, my truck is still in pieces, but I'll be there. PM me with details, Perfect Swing would be a good place to meet. I'm in for Saturday HotRod73 02-15-2007, 06:05 PM bobthecop i believe you work with my mom... her name is kelly.. she was tellin me a guy named bob was interested in old style trucks like i am and his name was bob and works at the court house with her if i am wrong please forgive me..... pre-runner... anyday is fine by me... ill be bringin the 87 short bed once i get it in my possesion and fix it up more...just thought fridays were more fun but i guess its all the same if we all rode in together with our trucks lol... HotRod73 02-15-2007, 06:18 PM what time are they open on that day? i usualy only go on fridays so not use to the times on saturday... either way im in just need to know a time and where to meet... perfect swing wouldnt be a bad idea...as long as they have enough parking for all of us lol bobthecop 02-16-2007, 09:20 AM Yeah, HotRod73 I do work with your mom. I sent you a pm. st1x10 02-17-2007, 07:38 PM Aight I am in, I might drive the C10 we will have to see if I can get the tranny problem figured out and some safer wheels and tires. I actually got some work done on it today, since it was nice outside. If not the S10 will make the trip. project1971 02-19-2007, 12:03 PM Heck yeah I would be in too. The '71 drivetrain should be done by then no prolem, plan on taking it to the board meet in July. I would like to see some local rides too. bobthecop 02-21-2007, 08:43 AM I just found out my son and his wife and my grandson are coming from Colorado to visit in the weekend of June 9th, to see us and to go to the airshow, so that weekend is out for me. sorry would've loved to make it. panhandler62 02-21-2007, 09:48 AM How ironic. We will be in Del City and Muskogee this summer to visit family and we originaly planned on going in early June but it looks as though our school year will be lengthened due to snow days so now it's going to be mid July when we visit. st1x10 02-21-2007, 10:25 PM Awesome, hope to see u there. panhandler62 02-22-2007, 07:21 AM dang.. went from delayed to cancelled.. the ex-wife wants to prove she is in control and pretty much screwed up our plans.. Back to court to fight her there I guess.. Prerunner1982 02-26-2007, 10:19 AM I have been rather busy lately with personal matters that have come up. If anyone wouldnt mind helping out that would be great... HotRod73 02-27-2007, 10:53 PM i can help some way if needed... i will for sure be there rain or shine... the 73 is runnin great and the 87 will be done by then for sure.. Prerunner1982 02-28-2007, 06:25 PM Ok.. I think we pretty much have the place and date set. HOWEVER, should it rain the race track will shut down so an close alternate location should be considered. Also, the type of meal needs to be considered. eat out? or BYO? if BYO, who will bring what? Eat out is easier.. but dont want to discourage anyone who may not have alot of money. (like me) It will take some people a tank of gas to get there and back.. at the going rate thats approx $40.. then add in more money for food.... just something to consider. A meet up point also needs to be determined before we enter the race track. Also a time frame to meet and a time to roll out to the race, giving any stragglers time to catch up. Let me know if you need help.. and if anyone else wants to pitch in please speak up.. Everyone always wants a meet and greet but rarely does anyone step up to help organize.. HotRod73 02-28-2007, 10:04 PM it may be best to byo or eatout either is fine by me, we could always have us a good ole cookout and tailgate party lol... i think the 73 just lost the oil pump so it wont be making it but i planned on bringing the 87 anyways... if it decides to rain i really cannot think of anywhere else to meet... i will keep my eyes and ears open if i find or hear of place good and close... as for the meeting spot... why dont we meet at either the lloyd noble center or perfect swing... i figured lloyd noble would be best, for those traveler's especialy because they could get off I-35 and get on hwy 9 and head to the lloyd noble plus the parking space is PLENTY big for anyone who decides to show up but perfect swing would be okay too, as long as there isnt any little kids celebrating some birthday parties lol... my advise is the lloyd noble center... we could have everyone pitch in and we can bring some bbq grills and bbq and do some burgers or we could always stop at the pizza pedlers in noble or whatever... thats going to be something not everyone will probably agree on, because some will want one thing others will want other things thats why i thought grilling burgers and stuff would be cool, just have some people bring some of the supplies and have us some good ole burgers and hotdogs and enjoy the races... (tv is TOO high on their food so i wouldnt suggest anyone planning on eating there unless u wanna spend alot of $$) i would bring your own drinks too considering they were high on those as well last year... what does everyone else think??? Pl4yboy 02-28-2007, 10:45 PM I'll be coming from McAlester as long as the 69 is painted by then. st1x10 02-28-2007, 11:24 PM I would not be opposed to byo food. And yes Lloyd noble would be a pretty good place to meet up. Prerunner1982 03-01-2007, 11:41 AM Traditionally we have always BBQ. Which is fine... who will bring what? who can supply the grill, burgers, dogs, chips.. Always up for a good BBQ.. :) adn the Lloyd Noble sounds fine.. HotRod73 03-01-2007, 02:50 PM I thought the lloyd noble would be the best place to meet. Never know how many people are going to actualy show up and we need to make sure we pick a place that has plenty of parking and the lloyd noble has just that... plus its pretty much right off hwy 9 and we can get to thunder valley from there fairly easy... as for the bbq why dont who ever wants to pitch in and the rest if they chose not to participate or feel like something else they can do their own thing. I figured on a nice day at thunder valley a bbq watchin races sounded like a great idea... i will pitch in and bring whatever i can we should start a list who ever wants to pitch in can, others dont feel bad its not required lol just dont make one person bring everything and turn around and eat all their food know what i mean?? lets all pitch in together everyone can bring something small... Prerunner1982 03-01-2007, 05:45 PM If anyone wants to pitch in and bring something, feel free to post a message or IM myself of HotRod73... Things needed: BBQ grill (depending on size of grill and # of people showing up, may need 2) Please bring proper grilling utensils as well. If you bring the grill you are not required to be the one cooking. Burgers: Burger Buns: Dogs: Dog buns: Chips: Dips: Condiments: Ketchup: Mayo: Mustard: Relish: Pickles: Paper towels: Paper plates: if you volunteer to bring something please try to show up, if you decide you cant make it please let someone know as early as possible.. would hate for the burgers not to show up to a BBQ. I think drinks should be bring your own. Preferrably no "adult" beverages please! If I missed anything let me know. HotRod73 03-01-2007, 08:32 PM Great idea on the drinks, so many people like different things so bringing your own drinks would be the best bet. I can bring whatever I need. I do not have a small grill to bring though (could probably find one between now and then if nobody else steps up) Hopefuly we will have a lot of people show up and have a great time. This will be my first. I can't wait to check out everyone's ride. Let me know what else I can do. So, so far we have decided that the meet will be Saturday June 9th, 2007 at thunder valley in noble. We will meet up at the lloyd noble center in norman and all drive in together. We have not set a meeting time. I have no clue what time they open for that day. I say we meet up and wait a bit to get as much people together as we can. The food will be a good old fasion bbq. We can do burgers and hot dogs. Hopefuly people will step up and volunteer to bring stuff. For those who do not want this, your welcome to bring your own goods and everyone should bring their own drinks... If I can do anything else to help please let me know! C&C Chevy 03-01-2007, 09:37 PM I JUST FOUND THIS THREAD!! COUNT ME IN!! :metal: I can bring a gas grill. Only a 4 burner, so if someone else wants to bring a bigger one, just say so and I'll bring something else. Lloyd Noble would be a good place to meet and eat, then "cruise" on down to the track at 7-8?? Then run what you brung! :ww: Not sure if getting permission to use there parking lot would be needed or not. HotRod73 03-02-2007, 01:34 PM i doubt it would be needed to meet there, but to cook and eat there probably would... HotRod73 03-02-2007, 01:43 PM i will try and get ahold of someone at the lloyd noble to make sure it wouldnt cost anything to meet and eat in their lot but i figured eating at the strip would be best while we watch the races we can enjoy the delicious food lol HotRod73 03-02-2007, 01:44 PM anyone plan on running their trucks? HotRod73 03-02-2007, 01:45 PM if im not mistaken saturdays are usualy during the day not night c&c '72hemieater 03-08-2007, 05:34 AM June 9th? Lloyd noble? Will try to make this will have to plan around kids soccer, softball, gymnastics, and so on I am in Fort Gibson and a tank is a vast under estimate for me more like two one way. Please do not change to Friday or I am out due to distance and time. Looking foward to meeting everyone... Anyone going to Norwood Mizz for the main site meet? Been thinking about it and would be nice to meet up and carivan!! PM me HotRod73 03-08-2007, 03:08 PM yep we should just keep it this date as far as i know this date is SET easier on everyone like jon said... Prerunner1982 03-20-2007, 06:31 PM hmm... this isnt lookin too good... HotRod73 03-22-2007, 12:59 PM i havent got any offers on people to bring stuff i got one on the grille but that is all.... st1x10 03-23-2007, 09:10 PM I can bring something, I don't know what yet. HotRod73 03-25-2007, 12:47 AM Okay people. This has been decided. Alot of people are interested, but not many people are stepping up to offer to bring items. We are not going to make one or two people responsible for feeding/supplying everyone with stuff... if nobody can step up and offer we should just cancel, there doesnt seem to be as much interest anymore... anyone wanna step up? st1x10 04-07-2007, 10:34 PM Is this still on for June 9th? HotRod73 04-10-2007, 11:18 AM i sure do hope so...but i probably wont be in the 87 as im trading it off for a 91 4x4 JayG 04-11-2007, 05:20 PM Say, can outsiders come to this? Meaning those folks from outside OK. Been too busy here lately, need a nice little road trip to lighten things up. I'll come up Saturday morning, stay the night, cruise back Sunday morning. I don't mind bringing a stack of "burger kits" (meat and buns!). Trying to finish my Vintage Air install this weekend. Prerunner1982 04-11-2007, 07:35 PM you are more than welcome to come.... I am not sure where Duncanville is, but there are alot of other members in Texas as well so you might keep your eyes peeled this summer for a Texas get together. Hopefully things will pull through and this meet will happen..... Unfortunately its not looking that way. st1x10 04-22-2007, 04:52 PM Aight. What time our we meeting at Lloyd Noble? I might start a new thread announcing the date and time and what we still need. How many are we expecting? Edit: I am going to have the truck ready to roll by then with new suspension and brakes. Also need to fix some of the electrical grimlins. Prerunner1982 04-25-2007, 03:03 PM Aight. What time our we meeting at Lloyd Noble? Also need to fix some of the electrical grimlins. I dont know if an official time has been set yet, it depends on what time the races start. I think 10am would be sufficient. Expecting? well there were alot of people who showed interest in a meet. But looking back on this thread there seems to only be a handful of people who have said they would come or would try to come. And I believe someone has volunteered a grille and I think somone offered to bring the burgers.... Sam59 04-30-2007, 11:35 PM should be a blast gentlemen, im definately down! st1x10 05-03-2007, 06:57 PM Aight well I am down and I also have two others that might be interested. One for sure in a 81 c10 and the other is a maybe if he gets his truck done he will be there (72 c10). I went to Thunder Valley's website and the schedule for saturday isn't there as far as times. 10 am at Lloyd Noble sounds good to me though. Maybe stay there for 30min to an hour and then head over to Thunder Valley. Watch a few races, maybe a few of our trucks and then eat some lunch. Hang out and watch some more races. Then hit the road whenever. I can bring some chips and condiments. I think it might be a good idea to get a new list of people that are coming and what they are bringing. I see people are interested, but who is coming for sure. Prerunner1982 05-09-2007, 01:06 PM Aight well I am down and I also have two others that might be interested. I might be there, might not, depends on funds.. st1x10 05-09-2007, 05:59 PM OK new thread started if your coming reply there plz. Prerunner1982 05-10-2007, 11:03 AM Also, when someone volunteers to bring something, you might put thier name next to that item on your original list, that way everybody else doesnt have to scroll through the replies to see whos bringing what.. Just an idea and thanks for stepping up and taking this over.. |
