Anyone swapped a later model chevy short box frame under 55-59. I'm thinking about putting a 58 cab & front on an 88 short step. How well does the later model box match the cab? Would it be easier to swap later front IFS to 58 frame?
Thanks,

Ummmmm, and where exactly are you planning on getting a 58 chevy cab and front clip? HMMMM? I sure hope you're not planning on using the truck below

I have seen 55-59 trucks on 4x4 88-98 frames, so I'm sure something could be worked out. I know you've seen 88-98 stepsides beds on these trucks at shows before, remember the orange one at carlisle? They're fiberglass too, so no rust in NY.

Welcome to the internet, and welcome to the board..... dad :D

Too funny :hm: .

I've done a couple. Here's my Burb on a '00 GMC frame. Just had to move the rear axle forward 2".

Here's my '56 on a '78 Dually frame.

No, actually the one in the picture was slightly damaged in a fire...but I was able to trade the whole truck for a nicer cab & front.

You're not funny :(

He's just kiddin about the fire, although the 58 was spared, a ford truck and a couple mid 80's firebirds weren't so lucky.

Anyone else have any more frame swap ideas?

SEON, what did you have to do to modify the frames? Did you use the cab mounts off the 55-59 frames and weld them to the late model frames, did you make your own??? What about the floor and firewall, were there any clearance issues?? Any pics of what you did to modify them?

Hey,

I'd like to see more pics of that burb if it's any further along than in this picture. I really like the old burbs. I had a '70 3dr 3500 four wheel drive. I sold it to buy the '59 I have now.

Thanks,
