How,exactly, does this thing work?I was in Pensacola last year that week, but I didn`t know where to go.I mean do events migrate around the circuit? Is it just generally hap`nin` everywhere all week? How far east and how far west?Could someone explain to a simpletim how it is in general??

Palf70Step
04-04-2007, 12:21 PM
Special K, It's a Mississippi Coast event. Just a week long even of different towns/casinos/clubs having things to do in cars. Some folks will just drive back and forth every day from LA and P-cola, others stay here. The main days are Friday and Saturday (5th & 6th of Oct). I think the swap meet sets up on Wednesday. Check out their site as it gets closer to see what all the different shows and events will be.

Unfortunately I won't have the entire week off this year. But I'll be there Friday and Saturday for sure. I'm hoping to squeeze in Thursday to. We'll have to try a better eat thing this year. Should be more restraunts available. See how many board members we can cram into one place.

Vacation time is already scheduled! Several local guys have been the last couple of years and LOVED it. I headed towards there last year, but a leaky rearend (on the truck) caused an abort of the trip. New axles, seals, gears and posi fixed the problem.

Hugger, sorry for not getting back to you. I could never find the guy and what hotel he managed. Isle of Capri is good location and lots of folks be there for the Crusin.

We need to organize a eat-n-greet or something somewhere. Know any good places Palf?

Palf70Step
08-06-2007, 12:21 PM
There is a couple places depending on what you wan to eat, just most are real crowded in the evenings, especially during crusin. Normally we'll have to try for later, so that Tim Christian can close up shop and join us.

We'll see what we can dig up.

navybear70

Whats this I hear bout some peoples cruzin from LA to Pcola?

Bowtie468
08-15-2007, 11:34 AM
Oh, Yeah, It's getting closer by the minute !! Glad too see some new faces will make this years event.

Myself, i'll be heading there on Tuesday and leaving probably early Sunday morning being my two sons have football games on Sunday.

The eat-n-greet that Wynne mentioned sounds Great ! Late in the evening would be the ticket, as Bill mentioned, so that Tim could also attend !

Bill can probably come up with more ideas on places to eat than i can. Here are some ideas to kick around...

Casino Buffets.... long wait times( well of course we can drink beer in line while waiting) and average $15- $23 per person

Hard Rock Cafe' & Casino has just recently opened ! Am i correct on this , Bill ???

I also know of a place called Catfish Charlies which is a few miles north of I-10 in the Gulfport area. Haven't been there in probably 10 years, but i understand it is still open and the fish is just as good as ever. Yes, you can get LOUD and Rowdy in here but the downside is that it's just... All You Can Eat Fried Catfish and hushpuppies !! ( I think they also added Fried Chicken Tenders to the menu as well ) While i dont have a problem with that, other members may. So if anyone else would like to throw in some more suggestions.. Me can all kick 'em around and try to come up with a plan.

Peace

navybear70
08-21-2007, 10:13 PM
Here's an idea to toss around...
Find a good Mom-n-Pop place that has a good variety of good food. Did I mention good food?:hm: Approach them now about working out a deal. Maybe a percentage off the total bill in exchange for a butt-ton of truckers eating all their food. Maybe we can even get reserved parking. Something off the main drag is preferable. That way they will be more inclined to work a deal since most tourists will stay near the main roads. The right salesperson could make it happen. Preferably an individual of "healthy" girth to help them see we will eat a lot; and someone with a nice classic ride to help them see that we are bringing some eye candy to draw in others.:D
:bsf: wow...I oughta sell used cars! :sexy:

Yep, the Hard Rock casino is now open as is the Bay St. Louis bridge. Things are normalizing here on the coast, should be a great event.

09-12-2007, 05:27 PM
Thought this thread needed a lil bump! Cruisin' time is growing nearer.

Maybe we all should all just meet up in a certain parking lot somewhere along the strip...say like on Friday night at 8 or 9 o'clock. Since nobody knows where to eat, & getting in a good restuarant with a large group is not very likely without an hour plus wait. That way we could at least check out each others rides.

I know a group of us will meet at the swapmeet Saturday morning at the coliseum. As far as I know I'm free Fri, Sat and Sun.

Palf70Step
09-12-2007, 07:56 PM
I have not had much time to look into much of anything this year. Most of the eating joints don't take reservation on Friday & Saturday nights. There is plenty of places we could probably invade in Biloxi and Gulfport areas. I am not too sure about the other towns across the bays.

I only have Friday off this year instead of the whole week. I have a luncheon with my son that daym, but other than that I am crusin Friday and Saturday. Figure most of us will hit the swap meet area. If Tim Christian is there we came use his spot as a meeting area, if not we can use Kenny's Trucks. Both are in about the same area.

I am free to eat Friday and Saturday....that way I don't have to do dishes at home. :)

Not the best plan, but we'll wing it. It covers such a large area, we may not even see some folks if they stay at one of the outer bay towns.

When it gets closer you folks coming in can PM me and I'll give you my cell phone number and we can see what goes from there. I am looking forward to meeting some of the new faces in MS, LA, heck from anywhere and meeting up with those of you from last year.

Heck I didn't know Sturgus was in MS, always thought it was SD. ;)

Theres a GREAT Cuban resturant in Waveland on hwy 90, may not be too crowded since its still a local secret. Just an idea...

How about everybody meet at Tim Christian's vendor trailer at 12 noon on friday, and we can make eating plans then? If it turns out that Tim isn't there, we'll meet at Kenny's. Hopefully we can all get together and eat friday night or something. Does that work for everybody? Anybody? :)

Friday night or Sat afternoon sounds good. Anyone live nearby? We could take the cheap route if nothing else and meet at someone's house for a BBQ. Or maybe an RV park. There's a nice one near Biloxi with lots of open space (a few years ago), I just hafta remember the name...

Bill, thanks for keeping us posted with all the pics from today!
