Hey all. I have been contemplating some things for my truck. Right now it's stock. 305
I have been looking at some performance parts for my motor, so I can maybe swap over when I decide to replace the tired 305. Anyway, aside from getting headers/exhaust, and probably a new top end, intake/carb, would I benefit from an aftermarket ignition system?
Something like this?
CLick me (http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=MSD%2D8500&N=700+4294839065+115&autoview=sku)
I keep wanting to get efi, but not sure. If I decide to stay carb, I want to be able to invest in some parts I can reuse on a new motor.
thx

The quick answer is that stock ignition peters out at about 5000 RPM and is marginal for high compression engines. You'll get a lot of debat about the MSD boxes, but at a build level of < 1 HP/CID a good aftermarket HEI will do the trick IMHO.

As for the EFI, there's no reason an HEI wouldn't cover it.

All IMHO :)
