What do you all think about this one?

I wouldn't even consider it at that price but I've got the chance to get one NIB for an even grand. Sound like a deal or not?

I hate Sony Vaios because we have had such an immense problem at the office with about a dozen and half of their laptops. I've never dealt with the multimedia PC's though.
On the overall design though, I think it's cool that they put everything into one single box with all of the connections like that, but ... Look at how large it is.
You could get a Shuttle PC barebones for $270 (you supply processor, ram, DVD burner and hard drive), put a good video card in it (nothing that is a power hog - unless you upgrade the power supply) and you have a PC that can be a multimedia PC and is as deep as a normal PC but only ~ 7" by 7" in size
Link to the "type" of shuttle system I'm talking about:

Might make a little more sense to see what I mean. I am NOT saying you should go out and buy that particular system, but these little Shuttle PC's are great bang for the buck, run quiet enough and are small enough to make a killer multimedia PC. Get a 500-600GB hard drive and you have a little beast to drop under the TV. With Windows XP Multimedia, you could rip all of your DVD's to this guy (@ 4GB per DVD, that's room for 115-140 DVD's) or just play DVD's using the drive. There are some really cool aftermarket remote controls you can use with these systems, also. They only work with Windows XP Media Center Edition though.

I can't say that the Sony Vaio MC systems suck, but I can tell you that I've dealt with several Vaio desktop PCs, and they pose MAJOR problems when upgrading them. At least the several that I've dealt with. I agree with Shifty completely, look into a shuttle system.
