Just a reminder to our northern and southern border members, Starting in January you will need a passport to enter our country so plan accordingly as in the states it takes 6 weeks and about $100US to get a passport. So apply now so you will be ready.

It's hard to believe that a whole year has slipped away. In a few days we will go to Yellow 69's for the kick off cookout. Then on to Maggie Valley for the Nats. With just a little rest then we will go to Norwood Mo. and three whole days of meet and greet and eat with people of like faith, hopes, and dreams. Back to my place to get ready for my 2ed annual Lip Smackin' Snackin' and tire roast Here in Big Sandy Tn. Next on my list is the fall 4th annual LUV in at Luvs place in Jackson Tn. I hope to work in 2 or 3 more shows/events during the year but will not feel like I've been slighted at all if this is all I get. I am hoping to meet a lot of new folks this year in my travels. Happy New Year.

69cruiser, will be looking forward to meeting you in July. If you don't mind me asking what do you have the 283 installed in?

The 283 will soon be installed in my 69 C10 LWB Fleetside truck that is in the midst of a complete redo. I have a few friends that have used 283's in there trucks/cars, and they say its a great motor(I have seen them perform too), so I decided I would sway from the 350 fad that everyone else is following in this town and go for somthing you dont see quite as often.

Same here, my buddies 71 C10 LWB Fleetside had a 283 with a set of cherry bombs on it, and thats what got me hooked on the 283! nothin better then the sound of a high winding 283 IMO.

I've got a 67 283 power pack motor with a 151 (327/350) cam in my 72. It has 2 1/2 pipes and flowmasters. Lots of chop at idle, sounds excellent. I thought I was the only one here with an old 283 in my truck!!!

Yeah Luv2xclrx, Used to be alot different there. Would start Friday night till early am start all over the next day early in the day till Sunday night. Run as many trail times as you wanted, had buy backs if you would loose a round while running in a trophy bracket race. Were a lot of really nice rides a lot of daily drivers. and others. Got a Camaro that may come there . 67 really nice car. Too bad it fell victim to sub and tub,but is a relly nice drag car. Only one I can think of that will make the tech inspection . Got a few months yet will try to get one of the others ready..

Ron 586
01-01-2007, 06:44 PM
Last time I checked they don't have the schedule for 2007 planned yet. They don't have the classes decided or what if any brackets will be run. So until I get some kind of positive word on what is going on I'm just planning on not running mine.

lilpup69chevy
01-02-2007, 12:31 AM
well not to thread hijack but if we can plan out a meet up my way you can race at sikeston dragstrip its 1/8 mile but they have improved it some over the years and its not one that will be hard to pass tech at within reason lots of fast cars down here too!!! the track is like 10 minutes from my house or so

Ron 586
01-02-2007, 01:07 AM
If you get something going and it is not in conflict with any of our planned events I will do my best to be there. Big Block Brad and I have been trying to arrange a get together to shoot some pictures and I'll have to check and see if he can do Sikeston or has something else in mind. Right now a lot of things going on and in planning stages so just jump in the middle of it and see what happens.

Saturday is the MAIN day, it's actually Friday to Sunday, Some will not
leave till Monday, I plan on getting there around Lunch time Friday and
leaving around Lunch time Sunday, but that's subject to change based
on everyone else  If alot are still there Sunday then I'll leave Monday.

BACKYARD88
01-02-2007, 05:48 PM
Thanks for clearing that up for me. I'll probably leave home sometime Thursday morning and arrive at the motel Thursday evening. I plan on staying till Sunday evening. Not sure if I'll spend the night and leave Monday morning or just leave Sunday night. Guess it depends on how tired I am. If anyone from Texas wants to meet up and caravan I'd be up for it.

Well guys, here's what I'm dealing with. It needs just about everything.

Install rear air bags
Install fuel cell
Give the axle a good "once over"
Install brake lines
Get the engine and tranny in and make sure it runs (this is the crucial part )
Run the new wiring harness
Figure out the plumbing of the air ride system and the digital gauge
You get the idea

So we'll see if it happens or not. I figure if I can get it running by my birthday on May 22nd, it should be pretty easy to get the rest of it done and the bugs worked out by July 6th!

Stay tuned to the 67-72 board, I figure I'll have to start a post to cover "The Thrash 2007" that I'm gonna be going through!

We thought about not bringing the '68 but I think that we are back to bringing it. The gas is going to be pretty steep but in comparison both trucks should be comparable. The other being a Ford F-250 4X4 extend a cab long box with a 5.8l HO, all the sudden the dually makes alot more sense, plus a little bit of class goes a long way.

I've got a 66 283 that was the higher compression version, I'm putting an all new top end on it and leaving the bottom end since it only has 18,000 original miles on it. I was also thinking about a 2 1/2" exhaust with a pair of flowmasters.

Alvin - I might have to also start a thrash of 2007 thread, my truck is still a bare frame  But with any hope I should get it done for june and ready for a road trip in july.

Meeting in Sikeston is good. I will be coming from Paris to Mayfield to Wickliffe and cross the rivers there and make my way to Sikeston and run 60 across to Norwood. I have did it in a semi and unless it's changed a bunch it ain't good but it's the best from here. I'll tag along with anyone or lead the way either one.

Yellow69 would be glad to have you along or meet in Sikeston as I don't know if family is going or not.

Pickles we can get together in Wickliffe or Sikeston whichever.

At this time I plan to go alone but can't rule anything out yet. So stay tuned.

Does anyone up there have access to a cherry picker or something we can get a birdseye shot of all the trucks and people with? Will there be an itinerary or will we be playing it loose?
