If I'm able to come I'll be coming alone Ron, so maybe we can work something out as long as we are going and staying the same amount of time.

Probably. I'll get with you by your cookout at the latest if we know what is happening by then.

So are we allowed to bring extra parts to trade/sell?

YES it was agreed that this is ok

If so should we start a thread for that?

BOSS will when it gets closer ;)

Does anyone up there have access to a cherry picker or something we can get a birdseye shot of all the trucks and people with?

HMMM, Roof of the house would work :hm:

Will there be an itinerary or will we be playing it loose? Any plans for meals?

Still undeceided, Probably one big scheduled meal and the rest played by ear

Im a large fella and yes, I plan my meals that far in advace!

:haha: I am not alone, Finally :metal:

guys, we are talking with hotels and campgrounds etc to see who will do what to help us.

Does this mean he won't let us camp there? :(

Liz
01-03-2007, 05:08 PM
no it does not. It means that some asked about hotels and are talking about finding them etc.. which is all fine, but we are working on getting one central one as well.

Ya'll gotta understand somethin, we are ALL excited about this... but it takes planning etc to pull off. We will post ALL info as we get it :)

I will just throw this out there..especially those south of ST Louis..& Others..The group I will be with is planning on leaving Arnold, Mo. 6 ISH AM to arrive @ Norwood by 12-12:30. On Saturday. Guys that are down south of there could join make it a convoy..Safety in numbers..and way cool to a # of trucks headed down the same expressway.

Are you all coming down to Lambert's and then cutting over? If so what
time do you think you would be in that area? I and others may meet up.

Boss, I know Lebanon is closer to you but would it be faster to come from Springfield? Whats the weather up there like that time of year?

Springfield would be easier i think and as far as the weather it will be probably on the warm side with the humidity kind of on the high side...:) Also again anyone and everyone is welcome to park there campers here on the place :)

BowTieOgre

Probably not as hot and humid as it is here on the Gulf Coast.;)

Our Exact route has not been planned just yet.. I really doubt it will be hard to not reconize a convoy of trucks (the more the better) heading off a ramp for pit stops and or rest areas.. Ahhh would like to suggest a good size bonfire for saturday night..Maybe with enough advance notice (along with our ice damaged trees) it would be possible ?? Maybe in the center of one of the fields...Sounds like a good meeting place for a revival of horror stories about our convoy experances..of the previous hrs.

I'll be going Friday but don't have a time set yet. The only one in our group that plans down to the second a year in advance is Luv. I'm not saying that's a bad thing it's just that I'm not that disciplined, yet.

If you're tough enough a blanket on the ground with a blanket of stars is camping. I am not. So I'll take a room at a motel.

68gmcdually
01-05-2007, 03:24 PM
I used to love camping in a tent, now with a bad back, a wife and a 8 month old son it is easier to bring the trailer. We where thinking of staying in motels but we will be gone for 13 days and kinda like the idea of camping.

Excited, happy, can't begin to say how I feel about this chance of a lifetime to gather with my friends on the board. I have had so much go wrong in the last year (it was 1 year ago today @2am that I was injured) that planning a trip to meet and thank the people that have been here to help pick me up when my chin was on my shoe tops and give me hope for tomorrow, yeah I'm ready. A lot has been done and there's a lot left to do so hang on it's going to be one hell of a ride.

Yeppers, I'm excited, we TN folks throw 3 or more of these a year, maybe
not quite as big, but we Luv to get together for Food and Fun. I have met
just over 40 Board members so far, and this looks as if I have a chance to
meet 25-50 more. Would really like to see at least 50 members attend this,
but we all know that we are a long way off from having this a done deal. If
you even think you can attend it you should try. I'm sure like Indy this will
be something, after it happens, that is talked about for a long time to come.
I'm excited just because I will be able to say afterwards -> "I was there"

The wife just realized yesterday that I was serious about taking the '68. She has been thinking all along that we where taking the F-250 company truck. Right like I wanna do that, but it does have a/c although I would rather sweat to death in the '68 then have the cold air in the Ford.

I am working on getting vintage a/c for the trip. You have to remember, we are from Canada, it is probably alot hotter there now then it ever gets here in the summer. We had our first green christmas in a long time and still no snow. Normally it is well below freezing with lots of snow by this time of year. Too bad that our family owns a propane company, really sucks for sales with weather like this.

We are towing the house trailer down behind one of them. We could bring down my father's crew cab ramp truck, with the dually on the back and the house trailer in tow but now we are just getting crazy.

Although the ramp truck is cool, it is a '52 International cab over stretched into a crew cab on a newer low pro chassis with a 21.5' bed. We have too much fun up here with making extend a cabs and crew cabs out of trucks that where only offered as regular cabs.

:bowtie: or not, we need pic's of this bad boy :metal:

I don't have any pics of it on this computer. She is one long machine. Before he built this one he stretched an econoline ford cube van cab into an extend a cab using the back end of an econoline van then put a 17' ramp truck body on the back. Growing up I saw most of Ontario plus most of the eastern sea board in that truck. We would load the trailer and head to Florida, hit Disney then pick up two cars in the Carolinas and head home. When my brother got his licence we would buy a third and he would drive it home as well. Did that until the bottom feel out of our dollar in the late 80's. I will try and get some pics later this week. It is nearing completion now, just needs alot of LED lights wired up.

On a side note the police just left my house, there is an accident up at the corner (my parent's phoned and asked if we where both home or else I wouldn't know) and he was looking for a MR. so and so, I hope that everyone is ok, judging by the two cruisers canvassing the neighbourhood looking for this new person's family to the community it can't be good. I guess they don't know exactly where he lives since they are going door to door now. Scared the crap out of my wife as they came up to the sliders in the dining room, she was filling out her passport application (to come to the meet) and he tapped on the window behind her, she turns around and gets a maglight beam in the eyes.

Hey Luv. It's a good thing we have a couple of practice runs to get in a full fledged party mode . We have yellow69's cookout to get us started. Then we can get stoked a little higher at Maggie Valley at the Truck Nat's. We'll be ready for a barn burner by the time we get to the meet in Mo. These other folks will just have to come cold turkey or come hang out with us. OH YEAH!

If mine makes it into town in the spring (5 minutes) it should have no problem making it to Missouri (37 hours round trip) right.

We are hoping to stay the week after the meet and hit the superchevy show in indiana on the way home. Is Branson worth the trip? We have never been and would like some feedback. It might not be practical since we will have the little guy but hey you never know.

I forgot about that...we should be able to get a decent deal on fireworks right after the 4th! That would make for some good pics...right at dusk when the sun is down and there is a little light still in the air..some big fireworks going off reflected off the paint of a field full of Chevys! Ok...now im getting stoked!:metal:

We have had a lot of suggestions and input so far but I'm not sure what if anything is written in stone at this point. I will pretty much go with the flow as it don't matter to me.
