Thats funny, I keep talking about it as well and it bugs my wife to no end. Although she knows that I am super excited about going. I just work the word missouri into most of my conversations with her just to keep it fresh in her mind.

I run my mouth on here but I am keeping quite about it here as I feel I was lucky to get her to agree to the Maggie valley trip.

O Boy! That's gonna play hell with your year in advance planning. That sucks. Well do the best you can and if all else fails pay somebody off. j/k It will work out and you'll be there as planned.

I think its fairly safe to say I WILL be there. My office has the last half of the week off due to the 4th so im probably heading up on the 5th.

Would it be better for me to stay in Springfield or Lebanon? I think Lebanon is closer to Norwood but the road from Springfield looks less rural so it may be faster...anyone know? I may crash in the truck at Boss's if the need arises :alc: but an airconditioned hotel room with a shower is a must.

I just marked it down on the calendar and didn't tell anyone, I like to keep things like that a surprise. By the time that they realize that I am gone in the morning I should be almost to the border, with my cell phone off.

Bowtie, we are trying to get info on a hotel that is alot closer then either you are looking at. I believe its less then 20 miles.

Are there any serviced campgrounds around. Might get a site there for Friday night and Sunday night and spend Saturday night on the grounds. Going 3 nights without running water makes life more difficult.

That way I can fill up the bathtub and let the little guy play, he started swimming lessons on Tuesday and he swan like a little fish.

Also :hm: we are trying and I stress the word TRYING to get prices on renting a shower/ porta potty etc for those staying.. the reason I say TRYING is we have NFC what the cost is right now. Its about impossible to get online quotes in that industry and we are working on locating one close enough for it to be doable

I am going to be there so thanks for the invite. I am only 2 and half hours away and will be there for sure. Also, there is a big, old salvage yard near there at Cabool, MO. ran by a John Coddington and it has tons, tons of old stuff, lots of chevy trucks. The first time I went last year it was like a time capsule, could not believe there was still an old yard like that. It stretches out over several hills and many many acres. Guy wants to sell the whole vehicles, may be pricy but if you need something, who knows. He had 2 rust bucket k-5's there but wanted to sell whole vehicles. There is stuff there from 50's 60s and 70s. Worth a look just off the main highway 60 thru Cabool. I don't think my 70 blazer will be ready but that is not going to stop me. Is there going to be a swap meet there? Thanks for a great site!

know, but if your are planning on coming, and are pretty sure, sign up HERE (http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=221634)

If I can get this CST/10 running, Im heading out. Ill sign up sometime in June if I feel the truck is ready to go the distance.

How many have registered thus far?

Liz
01-14-2007, 05:31 AM
You dont have to bring the truck :) many are just bringing themselves.

Ron 586
01-14-2007, 08:31 AM
I would encourage everyone to make plans to attend this event. If you are working on a project, that might give you added incentive to get it done. If the truck ain't ready, at least you gave it your best shot and made progress on it. So come anyway as a reward for all the hard work. If it's ready bring it down and show that puppy off. It's a win win situation. I see this board as a big family. I enjoy spending time with you folks visiting online. But the ones that I have met in person, and spent time with at events, cookouts, or just went to your house for a visit. That makes it special, more like brothers and sisters of the family. I have not met a single board member that I didn't like and I'm ready to add to that number. So come be part of the family in Norwood Mo. July 6-8 2007. See you there.

Id like to get it streetable by then and drive it up. Otherwise, I doubt I can borrow my family's 98 Jimmy for 3 days,

We'll see in a few months I guess. All depends on my income to pay for it all. The truck that is.

We'll be having our monthly meeting this Saturday. This event is one of the things we'll be talking about. I hope to get some of our guys interested in going.
If anyone would like to attend our meeting, please join us. This Saturday, january 20th.
Hometown Buffet On Manchester Rd. in Ballwin MO about 3/4 of a mile east of 141.

But we do not have many commiting yet. We need more people to attend....

I wouldn't be concerned at this point about the number committed. The main thing we need to be concerned with now is making sure we can provide basic services for the ones that do show up. I had a fish cookout at my place a few years back. We were expecting 25 to 50 people to show up. 226 people showed up and we had to provide for them. We had plenty to feed them with and plenty to drink. What my problem was I had a one bathroom house (at the old place) and a line all the way out the back door all night long. I know our crack team is already dealing with all these problems now and will be ready for ever how many show up. But the sooner we can get a accurate head count the easier it will be for the planning group to nail it down. We've only just begun.

No, no. You came up with the "toilet control team". My statement was about our crack (a term used by old timers to describe good or best) team that was working on ALL our problems. I'll work on bringing my writing skills into the twenty first century to avoid confusion. (You're on your own about not knowing which weekend your club meeting is).

I knew you were just poking fun at me and I sure hope you don't take my responding in jest seriously. This is all about fun, fellowship, and having as many people as we can come and share it with us. I'll be 60 on the 25th of this month but ask anyone that knows me, I may have to grow old but I refuse to grow up. Looking forward to meeting you and all your fine club members the first part of July at the meet in Mo.

No worry about me growing up anytime soon. This was last July at my board meet cookout at my house. I did a couple of burnouts in my Nova and the tire marks are still in the road out in front of the house.

texanidiot25
01-18-2007, 12:40 AM
Niiiice, killer Nova you've got there.

That reminds me, If I do make the trip I need to buy a few sets of cheep tires to burn off. Doesnt matter what I'm driving if I decide to go, Im burning the tires off it, lol.

I talked to almost all of our clubs members today about this event & got a pretty good response. 13 of our members are saying yes, they want to come on down as a group.....actually that most likely means we'll have 6-7 actually come down. you know how that goes.
again is it july6-8,Friday -Sunday ? or July 7-9 Saturday-Monday ?
We will get there late Sat. Morning leave late Sunday morning most likely. John

Ron 586
01-20-2007, 01:53 PM
It's 6-8 as far as I know. How many members do you have in your club. Then How many of them are active. We can't seemingly get a club off the ground around here. There's several of the chop & drop/ricer clubs around. May have to try it again it's been a couple of years since I heard anything about it.

stepside454
01-20-2007, 02:05 PM
we have I believe 30 paying members, we have about 10 that participate regularly. that seems to be about an average ratio of participation with most clubs. about 1/3 of the members participate.

Stepside 454,

Myself (Sammy) & Son (Firedog) want to meet up around 7Am on that Saturday close to the 141 Arnold exit maybe someplace that has breakfast to join your guys. Maybe @ 141/67 burger joint on the corner? We are already joined up on the master list.

Sounds awesome Sammy. We havent set up a meeting place as of yet. It will sort of be based on who all we have from the club coming.
I didnt know Firedog is your son. Does Firedog live at that corner house in Crystal City with the orange long bed ?
But anyway, our meeting place will likely be somewhere in in Jefferson County anyway. John

For you TN / KY folks who have never been to Lambert's this might be the
best place for us to meet for Lunch Friday. I'm sure most of the weekend
festivities are still being planned, one thing is for sure, if you eat lunch at
Lambert's you will not be hungry for dinner, just a late night snack or two.

I may have misunderstood but I thought we were meeting early morning in Sikeston, maybe have breakfast then leave for Norwood to arrive noon-thirty. Now I'm hearing lunch at Sikeston which would put us in Norwood late afternoon/evening. Just have to see how it shakes out but I'm going early myself. A lot depends on what I'm driving and what kind of load I'm pulling. Will have to wait and see.

Yeah if I'm in my dually with the 454 in it, I'll have to make a lot of gas stops if I don't get both tanks working. I only use the right side at this time as PO said when you switch over to the left it leaks like maybe it has a bad place in the line. I just got to drop the tank and take a look. Hope to bring a lot of stuff to the swap meet so that's why I'm planning on the big girl making the trip. But we'll all get there early or late and a good time will be had by all.

Might be bad news on the horizon for me being able to attend, I have to quit my current job due to a very high stress level. I am going to play it by ear and see if we can all come to terms about it or if I need to hit the high road and find a lower paying job that will allow me to spend more time with my family with a better attitude toward life.

On the positive side of the picture I remortaged the house last week so a career change won't ruin me financially right now.
