Ron 586 01-22-2007, 11:40 AM Good luck with your change in lifestyle. Been there done that and I know it's never easy. But you have the right idea of putting your family and quality of life above a high dollar job with stress. Hope it all works out and you get to make the meet in July. We'll be waiting on the word from you.
68gmcdually 01-22-2007, 11:54 AM Thanks Ron. The worst part of it all is that my boss is my brother and that it is a family owned company owned by my brother. The friction between us is the problem right now, that and everything keeps getting downloaded down on me, resulting in more and more stress, I have talked to him, emailed him, phoned him nothing seems to work. I think that a good scare would do wonders, and if he does appreciate me he will change and I will come back, if he doesn't I am sure that I can find a new job somewhere.
Ron 586 01-22-2007, 02:16 PM Good luck. I have been on both sides of that issue and it takes a lot of work just to maintain the family harmony let alone the business aspect of it. Maybe you guys can clear the air and resolve some of the issues and get it to work. If not, happy job hunting.
LUV2XCLR8 01-22-2007, 04:54 PM LUNCH???? What time do you plan on getting to Sikeston.
I was thinking breakfast in Sikeston and lunch at Norwood.
Just a thought, the earlier we are there the more we will spend, plus I may
not be able to leave until 9am (Remember what I said about vacation :( ) I
was just thinking it because the St. Louis group, if they deceide to come on
Friday, makes it a bigger crowd and caravan if we all meet up for Lunch, &
if you have never eaten there, well let's just say you won't be hungry later.
lilpup69chevy 01-22-2007, 06:18 PM well there are a bunch of ppl around here with 67-72 trucks hopefully i can get them to join up and join the bandwagon
stepside454 01-22-2007, 07:20 PM we wont be leaving from here till Sat. morning. plan to get to Mtn. Grove before noon. We will most likely be going through Potosi, Steelville, Salem, all back roads.
I dont know what our lunch plans well be for Sat., Either eat in Mt. Grove before we get to Boss' place, or eat at the farm if theres plans for a Sat. barbeque. John

I hear you on the "thoughts" part of it. I had forgotten about the work issue. And as I have stated a lot will depend on what I am driving and if I am pulling a trailer with a load. If I can sell a lot of stuff and deliver it to the meet that will save a lot on shipping. If I don't sell the stuff I'll drive something that can keep up with traffic. At this point it's still pretty much up in the air on what I will do. But I want to get to Norwood as early as I can on Friday cause I don't want to miss a minute of meeting and greeting the family. Oh yeah, I have ate at Lamberts a few times years ago while driving truck. But I wouldn't mind a trip down memory lane either. We will just have to see how things work out
LUV2XCLR8 01-22-2007, 08:30 PM I hear ya Ron :metal:
texanidiot25 01-22-2007, 08:54 PM Looking on a map, this is like a 6-7 hour trip from south texas. That is... If you drive fast.
Tycoon4u 01-22-2007, 11:28 PM Just found this thread when I stopped for lunch in Oklahoma today(truck driver). I immediatly called the bh at work and she put the vacation days on the calender. She was excited cause it will be the first plans for a trip in our new camper that we ordered. :metal: Talk about a coincidence!! she gets home from work and the dealer called on the ans, machine and the camper is in. We'll probably go up to Festus and get it in a couple weeks.:c2: I don't think my '68 will be done in time to bring and I sold my '72 GMC. Another couple will be coming with us and he might bring his '68 stepside. Can't wait to meet everybody!!
Ron 586 01-22-2007, 11:44 PM Tycoon4u glad you could make it. We are having a lot of fun trying to get everything in place for a great meet for the board members. Looking to meet a lot of new people and get this board into the meet and greet spirit every year. Stay tuned for further developments as they happen.
texanidiot25 01-23-2007, 12:11 AM What you could do is make like stickers/shirts/magnets/other random junk to sell at the meet and maybe promote the site some too. Ones that say like '07 www.67-72chevytrucks.com annual truck fest, or something of the sort.
Just my short idea.
stepside454 01-23-2007, 07:32 AM Tycoon, who you buying the Camper from ?
Sammy 01-23-2007, 07:47 AM Stepside 454 if your group is coming South on 67 Saturday morning (rather than me joining your group in Arnold} we can trade cell #'s and I can join in your group convoy just north (6 Miles ) of BonneTerre. As you pass us.
Also those miles through Mark Twain forest before you get into Bixby & Salem are loaded with lots of deer so remind your guys about that danger.
I will PM you my cell # when time gets closer.
tex we did that last meet as well :) prepaid shirts and lotsa goodies and giveaways.. hopefully we will have a good vendor participation this time as well.
Tycoon4u 01-23-2007, 07:54 AM stepside454, that would be Buffs discount.:metal:
stepside454 01-23-2007, 02:35 PM Tyconn..LOL I live about 3 or 4 miles from Buffs.
stepside454 01-23-2007, 02:37 PM Sammy, that might work, we may actually be going down 21 to Potosi, or maybe to Caledonia, but its still up in the air at this point. John
LUV2XCLR8 01-23-2007, 04:40 PM tex we did that last meet as well :) prepaid shirts and lotsa goodies and giveaways..

Whadayamean by hopefully?
How can we make this happen?
Who do we need to threaten? :D
cstanley 01-23-2007, 05:19 PM WHAt fun this would be!! buy parts from board vendors, then put 'em on right there! make sure they fit, get tons of opinions, and maybe even a little help. and could you ask for a better opportunity for vendor support and questions?
Whadayamean by hopefully?

Sammy 01-23-2007, 06:54 PM Stepside 454, Yeah I thought of route 21 may be the route you take after I posted. I can still meet up on 21 in downtown Caledonia at the & one only gas station..haha
GMC Paul or Tim Christian or somebody ought to come. I think it would be worth there time $$$$$$$$$.
Paul is on the planning team and has plans to come. The other vendors are being contacted as well for giveaways and such.
Being Tim is a long time member here, Id think he would had seen one of the 9760976 posts by now ;)
True, as long as somebody comes that's all I was concerned about.
lol.. everyone should :) the more the merrier.

BACKYARD88 01-24-2007, 02:17 PM Countdown to the Meet (http://www.timeanddate.com/counters/customcounter.html?month=7&day=7&year=2007&hour=8&min=0&sec=0&p0=605) It's getting closer every second!:c2:
LUV2XCLR8 01-24-2007, 04:17 PM I have E-mailed Tim, but he usually has a show around that time of year, but
the show might be one of those smaller ones that don't pay very well, anywho
I have not heard back from him yet, but that is normal, between the shop and
his regular job the guy stays pretty dang busy, I hope he considers coming ;)
65-72 chevytoys 01-25-2007, 08:55 AM Wow I just Googled Norwood, MO and found it is down by my old neck of the woods. I lived in Waynesvile/St. Robert, MO for 3 years. THere is a great BBQ and bar with live music on old route 66 called Devils Elbow Inn. Also plenty of places in Springfield. THere is Lambert's Cafe and the Springfield Brewery. I plan on being home that weekend in Southern Indiana which is about 4 hrs away lets see if I can make it. Won't have the truck though. Memoryville is also a cool place to check out in Rolla, as well as lake of the Ozarks for some watersports fun.
Ron 586 01-25-2007, 09:06 AM We will be happy to have you with or without a truck. Come for a few minutes or a few days. That is the message we are trying to get out. Just show up for as long as you can and join in all the fun of a family reunion. We hope to see you and many more at the meet in mo.
Rick Mills 01-25-2007, 12:28 PM Looks like the wife and I will be coming. Can't wait to meet "all y'alla' (that's southern... sort of. Would you believe southern Coloradan?)

LUV2XCLR8 01-27-2007, 07:16 PM WOW!!! I made it on the sign up list twice.:metal: Arn't I special.:c2:
 :hm:
68gmcdually 01-27-2007, 10:22 PM I am getting so excited about coming now. Got my problems resolved at work and everything looks good to go. I went out shopping Friday night looking for a wagon for the young lad for the trip as he won't be able to walk by then (if he is probably not that well anyways) and it will beat pushing him in the stroller. I want a covered one with big pneumatic tires for off roading. Found one that I like just going to wait for a sale now on it.
It is going to be nice to actually use the '68 for what it was built for, family vacations. Some of my best memories growing up where travelling on family vacations in my dad's ramp truck, and I want that for my kids. We used to head south on March break and go to Disney World, then pick up two cars on the way home for resale.
We want to buy the wagon with the cover. The only problem is that the cover over it is the Canadian flag, do you think that will ruffle any feathers down south of the border? Please note that these are canadian prices.
Ron 586 01-27-2007, 11:26 PM Good to hear that all is well on the home front. The wagon looks killer. I can't speak for anyone else but I don't have a problem with the flag on top.
lilpup69chevy 01-28-2007, 01:25 AM i don't see why anyone would have a problem with the canadian flag, it wouldn't bother me if it had a confederate flag on it to each one there own if you are proud of your heritage i say whats the problem its not like anyone is forcing it. on another note a friend of mine who is signed up on here is wanting to possibly make it in july but he runs a turbo/dyno shop and is usually busy right now he is working on a 72 swb with a twin turboed 408 ls engine he is hoping to have it built to drive it up, another thing i'd like to know if anyone would be curious of makin some dyno runs as he owns a portable dyno setup on a trailer just thought if enough ppl would want to pay to get a dyno run what a good time and place to do it, i've already talked to james about it lets see what everyone else thinks...............
if someone has an issue with it, they can get over it. The wagon would rock for the baby
bskylerj 01-28-2007, 02:33 AM No one should have a problem with that. If they do they should not attend. It is for the truck forum people not the picky.
I think the Dyno would be a fantastic idea. I would be in for that.:c2:
LUV2XCLR8 01-28-2007, 07:25 AM I think the Dyno would be a fantastic idea. I would be in for that.:c2:
:agree:
How many people does he need to make the trip worth while? and at what price?
:fb:
72dually 01-28-2007, 09:47 AM [QUOTE=bskylerj;2006248]No one should have a problem with that. If they do they should not attend.
:agree:
LUV2XCLR8 01-28-2007, 10:47 AM To anyone thinking of coming, who deceided not too go back and read every
page, and is concerned about their vehicle making this trip please understand
this. We would Luv to have James property so full of Trucks, Blazers, & Burbs
that we would need to rent a bushhog or a bulldozer to create more space, if
you can't drive your classic please consider coming anyways, knowing what I
know about this great board family we have is that anyone who ops out due
to a vehicle hinderance will probably regret it forever. I don't care what you
drive or what flag you fly, we just want it to be said that this will be talked
about for many years to come and I for one wouldn't miss it for the world, so
plan for it and make it happen, you will not regret it, you might even enjoy it.
lilpup69chevy 01-28-2007, 01:25 PM on the dyno idea guys and gals i'll have to give him a call and see what i can find out, i haven't ran the idea by him just yet but i know he use to take it to car shows and such. but if he gets his 72 finished he may not wanna pull it all that far with it, but if he decides against driving the 72 he can pull it with his dodge dually, either way i'd be kinda excited if he brought either the dyno or the turbo'd ls powered 72 swb lol
LUV2XCLR8 01-28-2007, 01:46 PM Yeah what he said :)
I figured you would :agree:
Tycoon4u 01-28-2007, 08:10 PM Is it time to go yet??? I'm hooked up & ready to go:metal: Went up to Festus & picked up the camper yesterday.

LUV2XCLR8 01-28-2007, 08:19 PM  :agree:
Tycoon4u 01-28-2007, 08:51 PM Well maybe I'll bring a smaller truck:cool: Boss I go across hwy 60 at least 2 or 3 times a month on the way to CA. I'd love to stop by say hi maybe give input on where to put the campers or whatever. Let me know.;)
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y299/tycoon4u/P7170114.jpg
Ron 586 01-28-2007, 10:29 PM The big truck or the camper either one is top shelf in my book.
Tycoon4u 01-28-2007, 10:51 PM Thanks Ron(fellow truck driver):b69: , I only wish my garden hose wasn't frozen so I could wash all the salt off before I took the pics
Sammy 01-29-2007, 08:14 AM Ohhh jeez what a truck..thats what I am talking about..I vote for the Peterbilt..Thats arriving in stylish form & making a statement!

68gmcdually 02-02-2007, 09:48 PM It was kinda nice, tonight while we where having dinner my wife was telling me how excited she was to be going away this summer to the meet. I can't believe, travelling over 2,000 miles in a 39 year old truck to meet a bunch of people that she has never talked too, I thought that she was just going along for the ride, but I think that she is really getting excited about it, as am I.
LUV2XCLR8 02-02-2007, 10:05 PM Oh man, You are so lucky, I'm jelous and in Luv :hm:
Great to hear she is looking forward to it also.I had the chance to mee tycoon tonight and had dinner at bros cafe and he seem like a great guy!!!! I cant wait to meet the rest of you all!!!!!!!!!
68gmcdually 02-03-2007, 10:33 AM I am one lucky guy thanks. I am looking forward to meeting everyone, I have only meet three board members in person thus far, entourageguy, 72Mario and 1968GMC, so it will be a real eye opener.
1969k10stepside 02-03-2007, 10:59 AM If I dont make it to the meet I will still probably be up at superchevy in Indy. Anyone else going?
LUV2XCLR8 02-03-2007, 11:41 AM Well I'm sure there are a few out here that have met more than I have (30)
but this will be far better than I could have ever hoped for, mainly because
most of the members I have met were relatively close to me, I'm taking one
whole extra day off before hand just to be sure that I am ready for the trip.
68gmcdually 02-03-2007, 11:44 AM If I dont make it to the meet I will still probably be up at superchevy in Indy. Anyone else going?
We are planning, ok I am planning and I am trying to convince my wife still, on making that a stop on the way home. I have never been to a show like it before, as we don't have superchevy shows north of the border and I think that it would cap off our trip nicely.
Check it out here (http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=221358). I know that you have already posted there but for any others interested.
