I'm planning on a completely new electrical system for my old project truck. Can anyone recommend a book that walks ya through this. I'm using an electronic operated tilt front end that is remote activited. I have a 101 understanding of wiring but I'm looking for some reference material.

Any imput?

thanks

Most of the books I've looked at seam to promise what you are looking for, but I have found them to be minor let downs. Lots of promise, short on actual help.

I guess you could attribute this to the fact that no two wiring jobs will be exactly the same, and just a few ciruits plus or minus can really complicate or simplify your job.

The wiring I have done has gone pretty easy when there is a diagram to look at, and turned into a head scratching pain when there are just a list of instructions.

It may be just as wise for you to study some wiring diagrams and then plan how your wires will run and then just tackle it.

nandress, thats along the lines of what I've found also. I was hoping someone in here had one that was above the generic ones I've seen.

I'm still hoping

thanks

In my job, I make new wiring harnesses for industrial engine installations, usually with modifications for data aquisition and other additional equipment. The main thing I have found that keeps harnesses neat and durable, is start at the termination and work back to the junction box/ecm. Don't try to save a couple of feet of wire by measuring exact, use high quality wire and terminals, bundle while still laying it out using tape or zip ties. By using plenty of wire on every pigtail, you can change routing to avoid hot spots, sharp edges, and secure it easily. This way, you can also plan where you put any splices in the harness.
Hope this helps. Feel free to contact me with questions. I average 2 custom harnesses a month. I have contact places for wire and connectors.
