How many of us have panels as our current project? I have a 69. Was supposed to be on the road last July. Now Im hoping to have it on the road by March or April. I have every piece to finish it (well, I probably will be needing a few little things here and there), just waiting for body and paint. I can see it all finished in my head...driving me crazy waiting...=(

i have one that is at my buddy's place taking up space in the back forty.
He and I have not set a specific date for its place inside the shop, but very soon this year we WILL get it in, then install the 250 straight six, powerglide tranny , fix the rust, hang new(?) 68 doors, and then .....
But Yeah, I got one.
i"m in the process of selling off my 91 dodge caravan and the 87 Jimmy and we are putting an engine in the 96 Jimmy that i bought last weekend. thinning out the herd will be good for me.

I'm all but ready to start a frame off on mine, but I just can't bring myself to start. I know that unless I hit the lottery it'll take several years.

I have been gathering up parts-body parts mostly-but I want to drop it a little. I haven't decided yet between bags or drop spindles. I want to get a 700r, but I'm undecided on what motor to go with. I have a good 250 block to build or I have a '68 327. I want the power, but I love the gas milage-right now I'm getting 18-20 mpg-but that's with a tired 230 and 3 on the tree with a one-barrel. No, I don't win many races. Old Volkswagon vans pass me on the hills. But first, I need to figure out how to get the body off. I can reinforce the rafters in my shop and lift it off, or jack it up and off. I'm not comfortable with either option. Maybe I can jack the entire thing up and then let the chassis down:lol:

I'm afraid that if I don't get it tore down this winter I'll put it off until next so I can drive it this summer. And then it will just be one more year until it's done.

We lifted mine off the chassis with 6 guys.

My 68 is a driver/project. Now that the HEI is insatalled it runs like a scalded dog. Needs rear shocks (did front allready), exhaust (getting dualed out), and tires. And weatherstripping. This won't be a show truck, just for hauling kids to town for school, feed store runs, and hunting/camping trips. Undecided on how to paint when the time comes. Was white, now primer gray.

My 67 was a driver till the 250 dropped a cylinder... Now it sets in the driveway awaiting a restoration in line behind my 69. I want to start on it bad, I used to get so many looks/comments on it as it sets and its just a rust bucket....

Man, that's sweet! That is similar to what I want to do for the inteior of mine, but I want to figure out a way for the rear seat to rotate back, on a pivot, so it would be against the side when not needed.

I was thinking that orange panel belonged to the John Force team. Now Im going to have to look it up....Been looking. Force is ford so I bet it probably isnt his...Maybe Bucky Austin?

I did a chop of my panel on how Im leaning towards having it look. It almost looks satin black in the chop, Ill toss in a pic of the hood already painted. Tires on this pic arent quite the same size Im thinking of going with. Hubcaps are stock and are pretty cool looking in person. They dont come out quite the same in a chop. I also have 15x8 wheels in chrome or white. Still not 100% sure on which way Im going to go. Its 6 lug. No bling wheels, this is supposed to have a late 60s style going. I also will have chrome windshield trim and vent window trim. Should be quite the hauler with the drive train I have for it. 500ci caddy, tci th400 street fighter, and a gear vendors over drive. Rear is a 4.10 posi.

pick up a wrecked GMC 4500 and that would be a good start. Hard to beat a turbo!:metal:

No sweat. I love 'em too, but as the story goes, too many projects :D

I have a '69 as well, i6 manual st, manual brakes still. driving this feels kinda like a schoolbus and makes my p/u feel like a sportscar. i want to do an ls1 swap and not a bb for the fuel economy, haha.

im the 3rd owner, there are side windows cut into it i need to remove. anybody else seen this happen?

I started mine about 4 years ago. Used two come alongs from rafters. Mine is a 70. Still off of frame, but the sheetmetel is done.

Here is my 69 GMC project. I've had it for several years and have just done a bit of owrk. Its really rusty, but hey they are rare right so it should be repaired and back on the road.
