Well, tis the season and someone tried to break into my truck. Nothing was taken but they messed with the locks. When i went to the mall that day I locked my doors,(power locks). When i trtied to get back into the drivers side door my key wont open the lock, nor will the poower door locks now. I am left to enter through the passengers side. How do I manually unlock the door. or get the lock out?

Did they break the outer handle or just screw up the lock cylinder (where the key goes)? To change the lock, the outer door handle has to be removed. To get to the handle the inner door panel has to come off and then plastic wind barrier will have to be peeled back. There is one bolt inside the door (10mm head) and one above the door latch on the door (10mm). Once the handle is off, it will be pretty self explainatory on how to get the cylinder out. You will have to get a new lock cylinder keyed to your old key or change both sides. It might be possible that one of the lock rods/ retainers may have come off or the part of the lock cylinder that acuates to lock rods broke during the attempt. You can get replacment outer handles and lock cylinders at most part stores. When I worked at Oreilly Auto, we kept 3 driver side inner and outer handles and 2 each of the passenger sides. If one of the rod retainers broke they can also be picked up at the parts store in the "Help" section.

Once you are inside the truck just flip the button to unlock the door. Just because they are electric does not mean you can't manually flip the button up. What did they do to the lock cylinder outside that you can't get your key in? Is there something jammed in it? It just sounds t me like the lock rod has come off of the lock. What actual damage did they do that you can see? Maybe a slimjim can unlock it if the inside button won't.

Sounds like the rod came off of the lock. I'm not so sure someone tried to break in. It sounds like the small plastic clip broke. Probably when the door was slammed shut. This clip holds the lock rod into the lock cylinder. A slimjim is a flat piece of metal with a notch or two places along the side. This slips between the window and rubber, slides down and you snag the rod, therefore unlocking the door. You say it won't unlock from the inside? The only way to fix the cylinder is get the door open to get the panel off.

A slim jim might not do it for you due to obstructions. What I have done is remove the window trim peice on the outside of the door, you will be able to get a coat hanger to the latch assembly, the lock is part of it, it's tough to see but you will be able to get it, had the same problem before. The rod to open the door is most likely ok, just your lock rod is off, a little patience and you should be good.
