You have to have so many post's to get an avatar. I'm not sure how many but I'm sure someone will jump in and tell you.

actually that rule went out the window. All you need to do is go to your usercp and click edit avatar, scroll down to use custom avatar and click browse. You will then be able to upload a pic from your PC to use as an avatar. The max size for registered users is 100x100 so it needs to be a small pic. I believe the software will resize it to fit, but the closer to 100x100 that you start off with the better it looks in the end.
