View Full Version : '67 shortbed stepside.
kyull67 01-05-2007, 08:19 PM I tried this before but for some reason the pictures were really small. I guess I'll make this my build thread. I just wish I had a digital camera and knew about this board when I started. There's a ton of great information on here and lots of helpful people.
cgoodwin 01-05-2007, 08:21 PM you putting on bumpers or roll pans?
I like the rear roll pans and for your body style, the LMC front bumper with the driving lights. Wish they made one for my 71.
kyull67 01-05-2007, 08:21 PM the back and wood bed.

I was going to go with the front bumper with fog lights but ended up getting a good deal on all the front chrome. So I've got the stock bumper on I just need to take some updated pictures when I go back to Kansas City.
kyull67 01-05-2007, 08:26 PM exhaust
kyull67 01-05-2007, 08:31 PM interior
kyull67 01-05-2007, 08:36 PM Almost finished console. Does anyone know why the picture's keep showing up so small? Nevermind I fixed it!:)
kyull67 01-05-2007, 08:38 PM 350/th350 soon to be 700r4.
kyull67 01-05-2007, 08:42 PM my favorite part.
kyull67 01-05-2007, 08:46 PM In the next couple of weeks I hope to get the sway bar and all of the front chrome pieces installed and also do some welding on the rear bedsides to clean it up a bit. Then It's time for some paint. I'll keep it updated.
FarmTruk 01-05-2007, 10:49 PM That's a good lookin' stepside there. Do you catch any flak from the police for the tag location under the bed?
kyull67 01-05-2007, 11:39 PM Thanks.

I actually moved the license plate onto a flip down mount on the roll pan. I drove it like that for a while though and they didn't seem to mind. I've been driving it around during different stages of completion so they probably knew what was up.
72armyswbtruck 01-05-2007, 11:44 PM Lookin Good

Thanks for the compliments. The wheels are Boyd Extreme's 18X8's with Nitto 275/75R18. They are too tall/wide but I got them for cheap off ebay together. I have a 3/5 drop.:bling:
In the pic of your motor, is it just me or did you clearance the DS motor mount for your headers? It looks like in the pic that half of it is gone, or is it an optical illusion?
Nice truck and I am really diggin' the console.
LUV2XCLR8 01-06-2007, 07:34 AM I used to live in Missery, did they change the tag laws? When I lived in St.
Louis YOU HAD TO HAVE A TAG ON THE FRONT & THE BACK, just curious ;)
"67"StepSide 01-06-2007, 09:32 AM nice job i'm building the same thing, only mine is just a frame right now...
FarmTruk 01-06-2007, 10:40 AM GGRRRR......:metal:

VetteVet 01-06-2007, 12:05 PM Good work! I'm kinda partial to the 67 swb myself.

Nice truck and I am really diggin' the console.
Thanks. Yes, I had to modify both motor mounts. I cut about 1/2" inch from both and then reinforced the undersides. No problems yet.

No, The police around here don't mind though. I've got a rear tag mounted on a flip down bracket on the roll pan and a front bumper now. I'll post some new pics next weekend.
looks great, what was your drop and wheel and tires sizes . i'm redoing a 68 panel and i like your trucks stants.
Drop is 3/5 coils for now with 18X8's and 275/65/R18. I will go with a 265/55R18 when I bag it.
;1973391"]NICE TRUCK, but those tips take getting use to,.
The pictures don't do them justice, I get compliments on them all the time in person.
kyull67 01-13-2007, 01:50 PM Well the weather did not coperate with me this weekend and we had another ice storm, so no working outside, which means I can't mount my sway bar and take it for a drive. But I was bored so I cut up my steering wheel. (It used to have three holes in each spoke.)
kyull67 01-13-2007, 01:54 PM I also put on Cadillac Deville press-on weatherstripping. They don't cover the rocker area but I like them because they have the felt on the inside.
Sam59 01-13-2007, 02:14 PM thanks man..i like those exhaust tips coming out of the rollpan! pretty badass!
CAL 58 GMC 01-13-2007, 02:44 PM Your roll pan/exhaust looks cool!

Thanks guys. I've always liked the 55-59 trucks, I almost bought one before I got the 67.
gangforward 01-13-2007, 06:08 PM Look's GR8!
kyull67 03-22-2007, 09:12 PM I got some time to actually work on the truck some more. I put on all the chrome and the sway bar, definetly a good way to spend $50 but people looked at me strange while blasting around corners while testing it out.:)
I plan on moving it to my new house this weekend and then paint it by May.
Lookin' good. What color are you planning on painting it?
faribran 03-22-2007, 09:53 PM have you changed out the front brakes.... maybe changed to disc brakes?
alschevy 03-22-2007, 09:54 PM thats a very nice 67 truck

That looks like ass.
Pl4yboy 03-22-2007, 11:07 PM Yeah... supermodel ass.
Morgsie 03-23-2007, 12:22 AM Hah, have you actually looked at that picture? The whole thing is an over spray. Paint on the rad hose, ground cable on the alt, LH vavle cover, wiring, brake lines, need I go on? Looks like he missed part of the motor mount and a whack on the steering shaft. If you're gonna paint everything, why miss a bunch? And where do you think he got the paint? Wally world? Let's not forget to top it off with cheesy edelbrock valve covers and air cleaner (more velveeta please!). I'd rather see the engine compartment how it was before he started than like THAT. If you're going to paint, why not take a day and remove stuff that doesn't need to be painted? I don't understand how people can praise someone that "got er done" in 30 minutes with a spray bomb and a 6 pack of beer.
REMEMBER KIDS: Drinking does not equal mechanicing and where a respirator when you paint.
Pl4yboy 03-23-2007, 12:30 AM I was talking about the motor... not the paint.
Morgsie 03-23-2007, 12:34 AM I'd have to disagree with you there aswell.
kyull67 03-23-2007, 12:03 PM That looks like ass.

Thanks. The bags are in the not so near future. I need to get it painted before more people make fun of it.:o And that's about all my budget will allow right now.
Morgsie, Chill out dude, if you don't like it, move on. This ain't a site where we flame people who do things we don't like, if you don't like it, say it, then move on. Just a friendly warning.
Blue'72 03-23-2007, 12:51 PM It looks good to me! It's on its way to being a REALLY nice truck! Well, already is if you ask me.
Joe67 03-23-2007, 12:57 PM No idea how I missed this one - Nice truck you are working on there

panhandler62 03-23-2007, 01:06 PM I know how budget goes... it would be nice to rent a shop and put every dream mod in I can thnk of.. but for right now... I'll settle for planning... lol
kyull67 03-23-2007, 02:52 PM I finally figured out how I want to do the gauges. I wont be able to finish it for a few weeks, but the tubes will be glassed over.
I'll probably use the Autometer antique white gauges also.
btw, thanks for all the positive comments. I'll see you at the board meet with the finished product.
Rollie396 03-23-2007, 03:23 PM That'll look good me thinks.

Thanks. I have nothing against canadians, there are several on this board with very nice trucks. I agree that the PO kind of ruined the engine bay, but it will be painted soon. eh?
