Hey guys, I have a 66 that previous owner started bodywork but has been sitting 11 years in outside storage. The exterior is mostly primered but has light rust showing in some spots. Type of primer unknown. Should I strip entire body and shoot with a epoxy primer? Also, when sanding some of the surface rust off a (stain) is left where the rust was on the bare metal. Does this stain need to be removed (and if so how?) or can I prime over it? Thanks, Jeff.

11 Years,Lacquer primer and it needs to go.
Strip & epoxy? YES. If you want it to LAST.
You should be able to sand off the black "stain" but if it's pitted, you'll really need to blast it out or use something like Naval Jelly to cook it out.
"Some" black is fine and epoxy will seal it up. Kinda hard to tell without a pic.
