Hey I had to glue in the cargo inserts before it went to glass. So it is not missing it is just hidening somewere in my shop. Now I can put that in, hang the rear view mirror and when the rest of my dyna mat gets here I can finish up the fire wall, cab corners, the inside of the doors and behing the door panels with mat. Tuesday I will drop off the interior and seat heaters to let the interior guys stitch things up. Then Friday the line-x gets done and over the next few weeks I will get the rims done and new tires put on her. That will leave the cruise control and a few small items to wrap up.

If I ever had just a small list of things like that to do, hell it'd take me a year, between trying to get time and money to make those things happen... Your build however is incredibly well thought out, crafted, and custom, and all for a garbage truck... Whatever you wanna tell yourself. Lol

Well lets just see how long it will be before I get those items finished up. Starting next weekend I am back on project Trazer untill it is finished so mine will sit for a bit. Oh and we call her a dump runner, garbage truck just sounds dirty!

Kevin,

First of all, Low Buck has turned out fricken beautiful. you've done an outstanding job at implimenting many subtle mods that not only work very well together, but make your truck unique.

You also have bragging rights to doing it all yourself....talk about talent. You don't seem too afraid of taking on any mod, including paint and body which can turn out to be a nightmare to the typical novice.

Another really cool thing is that you've built an exceptional driver with a FI motor, overdrive, AC, cruise control (coming), and even seat warmers!.....WHAT, no navigation system!

you've also done a fantastic job of documenting your progress of the build and I'm sure we all look forward to the next.

Hope I get the opportunity to see Low Buck this "car show season" and shake your hand.

It ok I'll tow yours to the show and leave it in the lot:lol: In another month or two they wil start the down town show here in winters and you should come on by.

I just wanted to put a shout out and a big thank you to a fellow board member Tripp. He took the time to find a set of center caps for my truck and the conversion lugs on E-bay and PM'd the info to me. I don't have an e-bay account set up so I asked if he would not mind bidding on it for me. He did, paid for it and is having it dropped shipped right to my house. We have never meet or done buisness but he was willing to do this for me with out question. So I just want to make sure everyone knows what kind of people we have on this site! Let's keep it this way, we all benifit from it.

Thanks again.

Wow... I started this thread at 8:00 am and couldn't put it down. Finally finished at 3:55 and I've got to say thanks!

The thing I love about what you've done is the subtle, almost stock, look of it. Having read the entire thread I know how much modification went into it and it's not over the top in the slightest. Very tasteful and smart choices. Very close to the perfect truck.

I can't wait for the Blazer build!

Ya the Blazer will be one of a kind. It will also be very subtle but very wild at the same time. To bad the build will not be public untill it is ready to be shown;)

Well the latest on LowBuck is the interior should be ready this week, the rest of my Dyna mat came this week along with my new cruise control. I also ordered new seat belts from ECE that came today and they seem to be very well built. They are the 3pt belts with the center belt as well. Maybe in a few weeks I will have time to install it all.
So when all said and done it will be a 70 SWB CST with PB, PS, CC, Tilt, Disk brakes, AC, EFI, AOD, CD and I forget what else!

Well the center caps have not shown up yet so I have not pulled the wheels to repaint ether. My air compressor to a cr@p so the Line-x money went to that for now. I have the Cruse control half way installed and my interior is ready to be picked up on Monday with the heated seats installed ready to go. The rest of my Dyna matt is here and just waiting for time to install as are the 3pt seat belts from ECE with a center belt for my son. I have been working on a customers vehical so mine is just sitting for right now but should be finished up in the next few weeks as time allows.
My next problem I think is going to be a head gasket job because I am getting alot of water out the exhaust. Once I determine if that is the problem I wil pull it down, check everything out and if all is good I wil order the ZZ4 cam kit for it while I am on the inside. That will put me over 420hp with the reprogram from Painless on their high rpm computer I have:devil:

Well we got the seats back today and they look great! I highly recomend Supreme Interiors in Oakland to anyone in or out of the area needing quality work done. So one day when I get the time to put in the rest of my Dyna Mat, run the wires for the heated seats, new carpet then I can put in the seats, door panels, new carpet thresh hold, door speakers and new door and window cranks and call it ready for the road. Well ready for the road pending my water problem with the motor. I have people telling me Flowmasters have been known to colect alot of water but I wil be doing a carbon test this week to rule out the head gaskets I hope.

We have seen lots of condensation build-up in the exhasut on the majority of our LS1 swaps with Flowmaster and Magnaflow mufflers... it can make you paranoid! Do the block test and double-check... but my guess is that it's just normal condensation.

$836 out the door with door panels and dyed arm rests to match. They also installed the seat heaters I brought them. I could not be happier with the end results.

Turns out all the water I had comming out was not the head gasket:metal: I have not driven this truck in three months but I have been starting it up and moving it around alot as needed. This caused condisation but never let it blow out or get hot enough to cook it out. Also my exhaust has not been changed since I swaped motors and it has a good low spot that can hold alot of water it turns out:lol: Also it is the design of the muffler to a point. Flow masters are fully welded and do noit have a weep hole to let moisture out like OEM's do. But then again that is why OEM's rust out so fast.

I have seen many many many late model vehicles with FlowMasters and other mufflers rust out very prematurely due to all the condensation and especially with smog type engines. i would suggest a weep or drain hole in the muffler somewhere to keep them drained........it wont negatively effect the muffler or make it any louder. Might help keep muffler lasting a lot longer.

Well I had a few minutes between Taylors naps so I put it to good use. I finished the Dyna Mat up the fire wall, cab corners, inside the doors and any were else I could get it. I had 3 sheets left over so I doubled up the fire wall and front floor. Then any part that was not covered by carpet I painted black so it would blend in. I will try and get a bit more done tonight after he heads off to sleep.

first off let me say that your skills are incredible. i have checked out several of your threads and i am always amazed. my question for you is have you ever thought of making an under dash panel? one thing i never liked about older vehicles is the unfinished looking lower dash. i would love to see what you could come up with. and again great work on all the rides. chris

Funny you mention that as I was just adding it to a build list I have going for another project. This one is not that detailed so it will stay as is once I clean things up a bit and wire in my C.C. and seat heaters. I will probaly do it out of fiber glass so it tucks into the dash lower lip and covers everything under the dash to the fire wall. Just leave the brake pedal comming thru.

Hand built! It is a few pages back:lol: I may have been in the project shell games thread when I was doing some part swapping. It was florest foam shapped to size then glassed with the gauge mount inserted into the foam. A bit of sanding, a hole in the dash and a new mounting bracket since the dash is curved at this spot then you are done.

So what are you saying they did not look good as trailer seating!

I went out to the shop at 2am this morning when I woke up and decided to try and get a few more things done. All that is now left is to install the carpet sill plates, headlights and a full tank of gas and we are off and running. I am heading down to my parents later today and I will take it out for it's maiden make over shake down. It is just a 130mile round trip but should be alot of fun. Sunday I will be coming back home with my son (7months old) as my wife will be staying for a baby shower for a family member and comming hoime Sunday night. I think we might have to go for a nice long drive on our way home;)

My car cover finally came back from California Car Covers again so once I fix it this time I can park the truck out side and finish up Traizer!!

Ok this is not a bash as much as it is a just know what you are getting into! I have ordered covers from Ca Car Cover before with out any problem but this time was another story.
First I went on-line and ordered a cover for a 70 SWB Custom fit with my company logo on the front. Simple enough since it was a regular item of theirs. Then I marked the box for side mirrors and antena. Then down in the aditional info box I discribed the mirrors and left my cell # if their were any qiestions or problems they could call me before shipping. No calls is good right?
I get the cover and guess what no mirrors and with the stock ones I have the cover will not fit with out almost ripping the cover. I call to find out what happened and the lady tells me well it is a pre 80 model so we do not do mirrors!! I said is this not a custom fit cover and did I not have a box to check that SAID MIRRORS? She said yes but we do not do mirrors for pre 80 models. But if you want you can send it back and we will add them at not extra cost:uhmk: I am sorry but this maid no sence to me but I said ok when will I get the shipping return lable so I can send it back (long pause) and she says they will send one right out. I tell her I will mark the cover for the mirrors and antenna so their are no mistakes before I send it out.
So I take pics with a tape measure showing key dimension, start and stop points and I slice the cover right at the millor and antenna locations. I test fit the antenna sleave to make sure it is long enough for our stock cowl mounted antenas and it is like 4" too long but I figure I will leave it as is.

3 weeks later I get the cover back and the mirrors fit great but now the antenna sleave is 12" too short:lol: So I call back and talk to the same lady and tell her thank you the mirrors fit great BUT the antenna sleave is too short now. So she wants me to send it back again (that would put it about 2 1/2months from order date) and I tell her no thank you just sent me a new antenna sleave and I will pay someone here to put it on because I need the truck to be out side so I can get other vehicals built.
So a long story short I have the sleave comming, they gave me my original shipping $ back and I have a real nice cover. I will be ordering from them again but I wil call first and set it all up with a manager as to what I want and need. Also I will order it a few months before I think I will need it. Like I said they are a great company and have good products but youy may run into a few snags but now you know about them so it won't be a surprise:lol:

Went for about a 2mile test drive to get gas and a few parts I needed for my exhaust fan set up I am doing in my shop and boy is this a solid truck now. Not a single rattle or tin can sound. Between all the dyna matt, carpet, door panels and making sure every nut and bolt was new or cleaned and tightened made a world of differance. You shut the doors with a click and all you head is a nice thud sound. Heck with new cars:lol: I will be heading out soon and wil get some pics to post up in a day or so when I get home.
I went ahead and put in my "show:lol:" head lights. They put out cr@p for light but sure look good with the blue bulbs. I wil put the H4's back in soon enough.

Well all went great! No problems, alot of thumbs up along the way. My parents loved it and my dad even gave up his parking fior his Benz for the night to keep all the due off of it. I stopped a few spots along the way for some pics on the way to my parents and only a few on the way home because I hade Taylor with me and he was busy sleeping away the day. I guess he approves of the ride and rumble. We went home thru Napa and over the hill past Lake Beriessa so I had about 15 miles of nice twisty road that was alot of fun. I even cought up to a couple of Mazda's and Honda 2000 that were playing on the twistys as well. I guess horse power is good for somthing after all.

I've thought about putting the 71-72 ambers in the grille of my '69. My order got mixed up for the front markers, and I got a clear for the '69-70, and an amber for the 71-72. Their identical moldings though.

Since I'm away from my truck.. what are the dimension of the holes in the bumpers? Looking at the fog lights on my '90 Firebird, I think a pair of those may fit nicely in each bumper hole. If you don't mind a 2 + 2 thing with fog lights that is.

The fog lights for the 3rd gen T/A body (even though mine is only a POS V6!) are 3inches tall, and 5-1/2 inches wide, with the lense being only 4-1/2 inches wide.

They don't look 9 inches wide in the bumper

I'll dig around and see what else has similar sized fog lights.

Ok, I haven't seen it mentioned, whats up the the truck sitting beside low buck with no gap between the bed and cab. Modified Blazer or trying to imitate a 60's Ford with an integrated cab?

Not much new but I have been driving the truck daily and so far not even a glitch. My company car was rear ended (not with me driving:lol:) so for a few weeks LowBuck is my only driver ;)

I got the center caps today so I thru them on but I still need to paint the rims one of these days. I was able to replace all the lug nuts with out havein to pull out the floor jack so it went quick. I also stopped by the shop last week and left a little mark as my Boss was standing by:lol:

texanidiot25,... The conversion lugs can usually be found on ebay. I just emailed the company and purchased them over the phone. Eliminates all the bidding. Search ebay,... buy direct.

So then, is this project pretty much done? Outside of the wheel painting anyway. It's one hell of a nice DD.

Yes their is just wheel painting and Line-X left to do on this one.

The number that Tripp gave is one of the E-bay listers and they were about $75 delivered with lugs, caps and cap lugs.

Thanks, I think your wrong but it's your opnion:lol:
I feel the trim adds that stock look to the truck (even know it's 68 trim on a 70) but still gives it that edge of custom.
