how is it done do i use special primers or paint or clear coat

I just used expoy primer (non sanding) and then color and clear coat.. Of course I have not fired up this engine yet...

I always thought you could uses any primer and color as long as you add ceramic to protect from the heat. But, when my Dad bought paint to paint the engine on his 38 ford the PPG Paint supply store sold him the same epoxy paint that was used on the body.

PPG and it is a GM Med Blue.. I don't remember what year though...

I used por-15 engine paint..............it wasn't exactly the same color as my truck but was really close...............hemmit

I painted my engine three years ago and have kept it clean and oil free and it is as nice as the day I shot the paint on. I used a regular urethane paint from NAPA just like on the body and cleared it using no primer at all!
