I would drop the Blu Ray and get another 8800 running SLi. Unless he is planning on using this for a multimedia PC to go in the entertainment center. Blu Ray is overrated and the benefit of another 8800GTX trumps (x100) that Blu Ray drive.

I am not a huge fan of PC P &C power supplies. I really love Antec, Coolermaster and Thermaltake. That particular PSU gets a nasty response, two units went DOA within a couple of weeks. I would not buy that brand, but that's just my 2¢.

Motherboard and CPU are compatible to run all four cores. This is a good thing. That thing is going to smoke! He won't need to overclock to get hellacious performance and the stock heatsink and fan that will come with it should kick ass.

I love that case.

I hope he has better luck with his X-Fi than I had with yours. Tell him to make sure to hook all power connectors into the mainboard. RTFM - read the f**king manual - before powering up the first time.

The one video card was an oversight as he was supposed to have selected 2.

Dunno about the blu-ray--he has a Samsung blu-ray player for his home theater. . .

I think he just liked the color of the p/s

As for reading the manual--he's buying all the components and having a local shop assemble it. I wouldn't let those guys touch anything but he swears by them--I think he's related to them.

Drop the Blu Ray player then. I understand Blu Ray and HD DVD has been hacked, so it's possible to burn them (and will become more possible later), but ... ask him why he wants it. Seems like such a frivilous purchase to me.
