Ok, who here is from GA, and what do you drive? I see many old Chevy Trucks around town, so I know there have to be some of you online!

Fort Benning, GA - 78 C10 Silverado

Anyone up for a GA get together? I think it would be cool if we figured out where everyone was and picked a central location for a Chevy Truck meet. :metal:

I'm here in Athens, GA, I have to swallow my pride when I say that because I'm an Auburn grad.

I'd love to have a get together, but I can't bring my girl for another couple of weeks, she's currently in the hospital (uncle's garage) having open heart surgery (engine rebuild).

I lived in Ga. until sept.05.A BB member used to set up meet and greet type meets about once a month. We would meet in a parking lot to vist about 10:30 or 11:00 and then all go eat.Usually we met at a large resturaunt or one near a mall(bigger parking lots)I think the most members we ever had was about 8-9. Woogeroo was the member who set them up.These meets were just very informal get togethers to talk trucks and everyone went dutch to luch so cost was not a factor.

Marietta is only about 1.5 hours from me, and a few of us up here would like to come to a cruise with lots of rides down there.

Keep your ears and eyes peeled.

-------------- the details below ---------

Canton, GA - Po Boys cruise in - 3rd Saturday, April through October.

Site is confirmed for the 2009 calendar year.

http://www.poboyscarclub.com

THE FOLLOWING CRUISES ARE ON THE 3RD SATURDAY OF EACH MONTH AT 5PM - april through october

-----------

I have been to this cruise in several times. It always has a good turn out. Always lots of different vehicles and there are usually some quirky ones there that you don't always see out and about much. At least in these parts.

Last I heard it was 2 bucks, per car to park in the cruise in area itself. That money they give to a local training school center... it is free to park your ride and just walk around.

We cannot allow you to save spaces for late arrival after 5:30pm. We are typically full around 6:30pm.

The usual burgers and hot dogs at a stand and some other eating joints around, plus there is a big Publix grocery store if ya just want to buy something in there.

Also the usually overly loud PA system with the seemingly required feedback and 1950's music.

If rain is not in the forecast and it is a nice evening, there will be bunches of rides there.

There are very few trailer queens at this event. Lots of kids and stuff running around so if you have an aversion to that sort of thing, don't bring your ride.

I'm going to try to make it out to the next one here in June with my old beater truck.

-W

p.s. I am not affiliated with this car club, I just thought I'd let folks know about the cruise in.

p.p.s.

Location:

Riverstone Shopping center, 1400 block of Riverstone Parkway.

1451 Riverstone Pkwy
Canton, GA 30114

Mapquest shows the road as 'old ball ground hwy'

Yahoo Maps shows it as ''old ball ground hwy' as well.

I think Riverstone Pkwy is a road on the property of the Riverstone shopping center - which is off of 'old ball ground hwy', the shopping center is a pretty big place. It has a huge parking lot.

Directions:

Go 575 north to exit 20, take left, and the car show is in the shopping center on the right (behind the Red Lobster).

The latest weather reports:

http://weather.yahoo.com :

(use the zip code, 30114 to check the latest for the event location)

When did they start charging to park in the cruise in at Canton? Not that $2 is an unfair amount for such a large event. I just wasn't aware they were charging.

sometime last year I think... at least that was the first I heard of it.

from their website:

"Unlike other car clubs, we donate every penny we raise to local and national charities. Our primary charity is Cherokee Training Center in Canton."

It seems all the old car and old truck people I know are going to the Goodguys show at Atlanta Motor speedway.

I still plan on going to the cruise in tho', weather permitting.

I'm in Jefferson, up I-85, about 50 minutes N. of Atlanta and 50 minutes S. of the Carolina border, between Gainesville and Athens.
Daily driver is a '62 Suburban. Had it a year and three months, racked up over 20,000 miles. Tired old truck, but rock-solid reilable. I'm upgrading it along the way...totally rewired with an American Autowire kit last month, new 3/4-ton, 4-row radiator a couple months ago...detailed the engine a few months ago, but I'm buying a new crate engine for it before driving out to Bonneville for Speed Week.

I also do the NE Georgia Swap Meet and Car Show, the first Sunday of every month. It's at Lanier National Speedway in Braselton.

Any questions: 706-367-1360
I'd LOVE to have a bunch of trucks come out to the car show!!!!

48 Chevy in Hoschton (25 miles northeast of Atlanta). I'm looking for post related to anyone going down to Gulfport the first week of October for Cruisin the Coast?

This is the best Street Rod venue in the Southeast! Different Park every day, several venues always running, and you just cruise back and forth across the 40 mile gulf beach strip road. Beautiful Oaks, gracious hospitatlity and fun casinos. You gotta do this one. I'm changin my annual event commitment from Louisville Street Rod Nationals in August to this great way to close the season in October.
