Well i have been looking at a 89 Yj jeep for quite a while and i just stubbled across this burb while looking on CL. it is priced alitttle over my price range at 1500 but the seller seems willing to go lower. My biggest conserns are that it is up here in the North east and its gonna be rusty. It does have 4x4 which is kinda a plus. It has a 4 speed which is GREAT and it is a 6 cyl Which is great in my fathers mind. What are your thoughts on it? If i go to look at it what is spots to check besides the body and spring hangers? Also while at a car show a while back a guy had done a rear barn door swap on his 71 suberban. How hard is that to do?
Thanks alot
here is what his ad says
"I have a 1967 suburban 4x4. it is a 1/2 ton that is pretty much stock. RARE!! Supposedly only 166 made!! Has a straight 6 motor with a 4 speed manual trans. It runs and drives good but probably needs a tune-up. Has bucket seats and the original backseat. No carpets or headliner. Has a few dents and dings. Paint is bad. Has new tires. TRADE????? "

Boss is right the front end has been changed, and being a 4x4 is a plus and six banger and a 4 spd,My personal preferance.Mine Is a 70 burb 4x4 with 250 six,3 spd and I like it alot, soon will be adding a 4 barrel offy intake.I'd say that's a good price cause it's a 4x4 and being a suburban,I was told that less than a thousand were made in 70 with my options.Go for it.

I would check all the usual places for rust mine came from north carolina and it had rust in all the rockers and rear quarters, but the roof and windshield are in great shape,As for gas mileage I'm averageing around 10 mpg cause of the old rochester carb and it's pushing 4100 lbs,But I usually go on short trips and alot of hills.

Still that is not too bad for a heavy big ol burban. I really wish this guy would write me back. I would love to have it as a fix up while driving kinda project. i know it would need to be framed off at some point but it sure would be a fun ahh SUV/Truck ?wagon to work on

Maybe it was in an accident or somthing.. I mean it does not have a bumper and the grill looks really nice. or it could have been rust repaire. I have seen a few suberbans of this vintage around locally are they rare? i looked on ebay and such and could not find many. thanks again for all your time.

I think this Burb has been on CL for over 1 month.. maybe 2. I remember seeing it for quite sometime. Also, it's been on CL in many different cities. I'd double check but I think it is in Los Angeles.

By the way, the seller is a member on this forum... "bad-turbo" is his call sign. He's got a post in someone elses post about how this is for sale. That post is on this suburban 1st page list. I believe it is titled "1967chevy 3 doors suburban" ... ?
Try to work something out with him if you are really interested. He would advertise in other cities if he wasn't interested in shipping out the suburban... I think.
