I was driving to work today and noticed the red battery light flickering and occasionaly staying on. Does anyone know electrically what this is monitoring? The voltmeter seemed to stay at about 15 volts. The battery is about 5 years old. The alternator is a 100 amp Summit Racing replacement. The serpentine belt appears tight and about 2 years old. Any thoughts how to troubleshoot this issue.
I did recently have the serpentine belt off and noticed a squeal when I spun the alternator pulley by hand. ????
Many thanks to everyone who responds.

I was driving home late Sunday night from a town about an hour's drive away. It was drizzling off and on and I had a flickering battery light. I have a Summit 140 amp upgrade on my CS130 alt., and I was getting an intermittent light. I was also using my radio, head lights + fog lights, defroster/ fan@ medium, and windshield wipers set on slow int. to fast int. I was putting too much of a demand on my electrical system in this particular case. When I got close to home I turned the fog lights off, used the windshield wipers less, and turned the heater/ defroster down. After a few miles I noticed the light flickered no more. I was taxing the electrical system on my drive home.
I have a plan to replace my CS130 with a CS144 along with all the brackets involved. This would probably be a bolt-on for your '95.

I still see the red BAT light flickering on and off when my truck is cold.
1. I changed the belt and put a new tensioner pulley on.
2. The voltmeter never changes when the BAT light comes on.
3. The alternator is less than 3 years old.
5. The battery seems to be in good shape.
Does anyone know how the BAT light is monitored. A schematic would be really helpful to track the power source to the light.
Anybody have any more thoughts??
Thanks !!
