I have a biostar m7vig 400 7.x board vt266pro amd 2200 (overclocked 1.71mhz) all bios and via drivers updated

1gig ram
60 &80 gig drives
Haupauge pvr
BFG geforce fx 5200 128mb graphics card

Card worked in previous PC. I have read alot of ways people have said they got it to work.
I downloaded old drivers went to the nividia web site and followed how to and fixed my bios.

Got the pc to read the card and drivers.
My screen at first setting looked fuzzy. messed with it brought resolution up a little and the dpi
seemed to work. As soon as you hit the internet or open folders the mouse would get jumpy.. then freeze the screen to where i need to reboot

Board runs cool, it has its own fan..

I took it out and now using the 64mb IGp.. I want the card to work for some of my older games..

Any ideas???

there used to be a proggy that slowed down the processor so you could play pacman or simulair games at normal speed i suggest you go take a look at download.com

Please underclock the system back to normal specs. I can't help you troubleshoot this problem until we remove overclocking as the cause.

PCI and AGP bus are very sensitive to overclocking, and I am inclined to believe the new card is most likely acting out based on the increased clock/not having a freq clock lock (no better way to explain) on PCI or AGP.

PS - did you follow proper procedure for driver removal while swapping out the cards?

Download latest drivers.
Download Driver Cleaner Pro.
Install Driver Cleaner Pro.
Reboot in Safe mode.
Use add/remove Programs in Control Panel to remove previous driver software.
Use Driver Cleaner Pro to remove all nVidia drivers (or whatever previous card was).
Reboot in regular mode.
Ignore all prompts to install new hardware. Install the drivers you downloaded instead.
Reboot.

If underclocking doesn't fix the problem (I think it will), please follow the steps above to reinstall the drivers.

yeah Shifty I did go back to the 1.49mhz of the mother board and followed that same removal procedure to a T... Found it on one of the Geek forums or nvidia forum..

Seemed to work after I did all that, but woith a fuzzy looking screen. I adjusted the resolution to a crazy 1280x1084 and bring up the DPI to 120
took the fuzziness away..
Then come morning started her up and the mouse got jumpy then would freeze the screen. rebooted then worked fine till I pulled up IE screen froze without warning. I tried older drivers all the way up to the newest from the nvidia site.. No luck..

Did you try returning to factory clock?

Did you try booting up, entering BIOS and choosing "fail safe defaults"? **

** Note: If you are using RAID arrays, or RAID (period) or special IDE/SATA settings, setting to fail-safe defaults may disable or turn off the RAID controller.

If it won't work with Fail-Safe BIOS settings, you can rest assured that it has absolutely nothing to do with settings in your BIOS. If it does, this is a very, very fast way to write off hundreds of possible problems with your OS/drivers/etc.

Yeah I only had the mobo overclocked not the graphics card..that went back to 1,49mhz from 1.71mhz..
I reset the CMOS jumper and put it back to stock setup..
I tried advanced and fail safe bios. I tried loading in admin mode also.. Right now I took it out and back to using 64mb off the mobo.. I am a the ype of guy that if it doesn't work after 2-3 days of dicking around.. I'm done with it..
YOu can only download and adjust yourpc untill something else gives out..
JMO..

I tend to agree.

You got a weird one, one of the frustrating ones to figure out :) It sounds like a driver problem. It is possible you got a faulty vid card (had this happen on a recent build for a forum member). High end cards - both were shot, worked, but not without all kinda artifacts and polygons showing all over the screen during 3dmark benchmarking.

The only other thing I could say might be wrong would be the Hauppage card or some other card causing a conflict.

If you wanted to dick around a little more, I would remove all other PCI cards and boot up, see if it continues. If it doesn't, I would honestly try to RMA the card if it's a recent purchase. Otherwise, try another card? Not the answer anyone wants to hear, though :\

Here's one for ya..
re-installed xp( board and had already backed everything up) without the haupauge card and reset the bios to default..
Windows loaded great. I had the BFG card installed and LCD plugged into it.
resolution was about 800-600
Loaded all drivers for evreything else except that card.
Went to windows to start upgrading/updating
windows found the card and installed an early driver for it. resolution still at 800x600
screen working great..
let it all update to sp2 ie7 blah blah blah..

rebooted several times..Good to go.. no screen issue.. went to 1024x768 didin't have any issues at first.. then random freezing and reboots itself..

then worked for a long time without issues, OK 2 hours..
then did it again.. So I figured update to the newest driver which is a 94 something bringing the 56 something driver up...

Still had same thing.. went to 800x 600.. no issues... WTF?

hmmmm might be a heat thing , i asume the monitor is good for the amount of pixels you feeding it

I wonder if one of the drivers is setting the memory and GPU clock to a setting that is so high, it is causing problems? If it's an nVidia card, you should use the CoolBits hack on the stock driver to bump down your clock speeds and see if it continues.

I would give this a whack. If you don't know what I'm talking about, Google for "coolbits regedit nvidia" and you should find more information on how to edit the registry to enable the advanced properties for your driver.
