I recently decided to replace the seized 235 in my 1962 C10 with a small-block V8. I found a good 305 to get me around for the time being, and I was wondering if I could use my original 3-speed manual transmission with the V8? If so, is there a way to get rid of the column-shift setup and install a simple floor shifter? I didn't know if it has been done, or if it was possible. Thanks so much.

The bellhousing for the 235 will not work with the V8. The floor shift would be simple.

Find a bellhousing that fits the V-8 and get yourself a Hurst Competition Plus 3-speed shifter setup and your ready to go.

Jim,
I have one of these shifters that I used with the 3 speed tranny in my '57. Will this also work in my '71 C10?
Thanks.

Get a 292, they have the same bellhousing as a SBC
