I was wandering what seats you guys have used in your 47-55? I have a set of buckets, and two split benches with power drivers side..The buckets won't work because I have two future bowtie enthusiasts that will be riding shotgun..I like the 90something bonneville seat, but would kinda like to have a more traditional style seat..When I bought my truck it had toyota bucket seats nailed to 1/2 plywood, which was nailed to 4x4 runners( safety first!!!),so needless to say those along with the original are long gone..Thanks..

thats what i am talking about.... my bowtie enthusiast is now 14yo and the '52 build is his :) we plan on some type of "sportier" cloth 60/40 for the same reasons. i will look more into it later but am gonna start with midsize SUV's and trucks till i find what i like. and will likely fab up mounting system if whats attatched will not work or give us the ride height we want. if i have a tube bender by then i may put a cage in it and mount the seats to it.

I too wanted the more traditional look but an updated version. I chose Glide engineering. It's a split back seat with a bottom that flips up for underside storage. I plan on putting a saftey kit and my amp under there. I'll have easy access to my speaker box with the folding rear also. Check out my build thread.

my boys are 12 &11,the oldest one loves to help/learn..The youngest lasts about a minute in the garage,& then he's gone..Hopefully he'll come around as well..I have heard the earlier dakota seats fit well, where the full size chev rubs the door, and the s10 is a little narrow to fit three..I can't find one(Dakota)around here yet..But then in this wheather i'm not too enthusiastic about running around in the salvage yards..It's so cold here they already said schools are on a 2 hour delay monday..(-15 with windchill)..

Your biggest problem is seat size. Some guys have used S-10 seats. I would rebuild the original. You won't be able to use anything with a high back.

There is a thread or tech tip over on the stovebolt.com site that shows how to convert the original bench to a flip forward. If you want to change out the whole seat you can use the split bench from GM G body cars such as Regal, Cutlass, Grand Prix or Monte Carlo. The older A body cars also had a split bench that will work. That is what I am using. The Ranger bench seat also works well for that truck.

Take a look into the split bench seats from Explorers...some have the flip up/down console that allows seating for three across.

I used some out of a 2000 Chevy Truck.

well, if you like traditional, here's an original seat frame for your truck, you'd have to get it fowmed & upholstered, but you'd have full control of what it will look like when it's done & you know it will fit.

These guys came from a '71 Lincoln Town Car. I was surprised that they would fit. I've got power on both sides and fold down arm rests/console in the center and leather.
