I have a 98 Suburban, 1 headlight went out, so I replaced both low beam bulbs, worked fine for about a week, and now daytime running lights work fine, but when I turn the headlight switch to on, the headlights go out, and the brights don't work either, but if I turn the switch to the off position, the daytime running lights work fine, not sure what this problem could be?? Headlight switch?? Relay?? I sure hope someone out there has had the same problem.
Thanks,
ANDY

Do you have a circuit tester (volt meter or test light)? I would start at the relay. It's a common central point to both the switch and the lights.
Pull the relay and check for both main power and switch signal at the relay. If you have both, it means there's a problem in the bulbs themselves (or their wiring). If you don't have power at the relay, then you can backtrace from there.

Yes, I do have a tester, and I will check the relay, without me even looking for it, can you tell me where the relay is located? I also think its odd this happened after I replaced both bulbs.

The headlight switch is the problem, had the same problem with mine.

I would think (not entirely sure when it comes to Burbs) that there's a fuse panel located under the hood on the driver's side fender liner. Or maybe close to the battery. A long skinny black plastic box with a hinged lid. On the underside of the lid will be a diagram showing which one is the headlamp relay.
Maybe the new bulbs are a higher wattage than the originals? I don't know. Sorry.

I wonder if I have to get this from the dealer, or if NAPA or someone has a cheaper one?
