you know soda doesnt remove rust and that most manufacturers wont warrenty thier paint over a soda blasted surface right? if not cleaner than clean after blasting it'll eat the metal up like battery acid

What would you recomend to do to clean the body afterwards? I want to strip all the 40+ years of paint and get down to the nitty gritty without having to take the expensive windshield and widows out. I figured after blasting I would take a wax and grease remover and wipe the whole thing down and then spray some primer/sealer on it so I can start the body work. I am trying to get this thing in primer in 3 months so I cant take the time to strip it by hand and I can get a few hours on a portable blaster.

I used to get mine from Agway.. so any farm supply store might have it. But, yeah, I hear it'll corrode your metal (I used it to blast alloy wheels and plastic panels on bikes).

As mentioned before some paint companies wont warrenty their if soda blasting has been involved. The soda leaves a film on the metal that can be darn near impossible to remove.

Why dont you want to remove the windshield, more then likely there is rust in the windshield channel.
I would take it to some where that does media blasting with plastic and glass.
The plastic will remove the paint, then they come back and do the rust with glass.

Also the BEST primer to put on bare metal is EPOXY period!!!

I had it out once and it was a tight fit going in and I don't want to replace it if I break it plus I know there is no rust back there. The reason I am not media blasting is because there is only one plase near me that does it and #1 I don't want someone younger than me (27) touching my truck with something that they don't care about and #2 I have heard bad things about how they do there blasting. They leave alot of the harder parts to clean ie: drip rails, cowl panels, etc and I'm not going to pay 500.00 for a half as-ed job.
I have some two part epoxy black I was going to put on it by shermin williams.

be careful with what you choose, I read that some media will cause the body panels to warp easier. I am going to use Black beauty Coal slag for my frame ($10 per 100lbs) but I don't think that it would be good on the sheetmetal. Glass beads maybe? Tractor Supply or Harbor Freight sell it.

My buddy has his Chevelle done last summer for about $800 and they did an awesome job right in his driveway!. His car had many paint jobs on it prior and they melted away!
