Saw (and heard :metal:) this bad boy at the Newport show. If possible, it looks much better in person than in the pictures. This is one of my overall favorite vehicles I've EVER seen (And I've been to a ton of shows) It's very nice w/out being Over the top. Honestly you got me started thinking about doing one of these now instead of a 67-72 (but don't tell those guys ;) ) I know I will be looking for both on Craigslist and researching how much I'll have into both to do it the way I want!

I what thinking about that, but then I would have had tomake this part custom that goes on the dash.;)

Sir, you are the reason I dont have any money. I see trucks like yours and I spend money I dont have. I think its a shame you have the time and knowledge that I do not to work on this vehicle. NO Im joking the Blazer is awesome. I was about to start lokking for one but then I looked at my bank account :waah:

Your front seats look like they came out of a newer Tahoe like my 2003 but my front seats don't flip forward. What application did yours come from?

I would love to get a set for my 78 K20 but want them to flip forward so I can easily access behind the seats.

In the back did you use the third row set that can be quickly removed or the second row set that just folds flat?

Yep the front is out of 2000-03 truck, and the back it 3rd roll out of a Yukon. I made the back seat so it will not flip up any more. It took me a long time to find the front seats, you just have to look hard for them.

Duh. That makes sense. I assume they are from a regular cab truck as the extended cab would have the rear doors so they would be fixed position seats like my Tahoe that don't flip forward.

My local wrecking yard has a couple base model manual adjustment sets in cloth for $250 for the pair from regular cab trucks and a bunch more for the same cost for those from an extended cab or SUV in leather with full power & heat.

I think you could slide the fixed back seats forward all the way and tilt the back as far forward as it will go and have enough access to behind the seat to make the more common fixed back seats work now that I think about their adjustment range.

I really want the heated leather highly adjustable seats like in my Tahoe so I think I will deal with the limited access behind the seat to get them. Those seats and the smooth power of the LS engine are what make driving the Tahoe so nice.

When I get last weekends work on the truck completed I will have the power increase taken care of then I will just need the creature comforts.

Thanks for the help making up my mind ;)

First off your blazer is one of the nicest I have ever seen. I am rebuilding my 82 SWB that was previously bagged. I did not like the set up so I rebuilt the frame, flipped the rear, and put springs on the front. I remember the last truck I had with just springs rode terrible. My question for you is, when you have the front of your blazer aired up for driving how high do you have to air it up for a smooth ride? With my old air ride set up the front had to be up and the rear was down for it to be a smooth ride and I hated the overall look of it.

Thanks and nice ride again.

I made this bumper 10 years ago back before LMC came out with them. I just took 3" pipe and weld them right in. Also smoothed all the bolts, if you do this make sure you use big washers on the back side so it will not pull out. I found out the hard way.;)

And thanks guys..

Yea, the one the lower right is Travis' Blazer.

Why would someone go to such length to describe a vehicle and NOT include an actual picture of it is it is as nice and the ad leads you to believe.....

68 TT
10-23-2009, 10:38 AM
The whole thing sounds fishy. No name, no phone number, just wants to set up a meeting. Almost like he is trying to set somebody up to be robbed meeting a hopeful buyer carrying $4000 cash somewhere away from home.

If he really had that much into the rig he would definitely have pictures of it. It makes no sense putting pics of other peoples vehicles in your ad if what you are selling is as nice as he leads you to believe.

No mention of why he is selling it either.

The whole ad makes me leery.

Yep that is a pic from this past spring at a show. And that is just odd, I am like you all why would you put a pic of something that your not ever selling, and why would someone have to send him a phone number?

clear headlights remove roofrail and most of the chrome trim on the sides different sidemirrors sand the doorhandles smooth and paint them in the bodycolour make a set of foglights in the frontbumper again hmmmmmm you could do a lot of the same stuff to it you did to the blazer

I'd make it all black like the other one and put on the black & red bowtie grille like the 454SS trucks had. I love the way they looked. A Tahoe done that way would look evil.

And you have got to get rid of the tire tread trim running down the sides. That stuff is a bear to get off, but once it is off, it makes a world of difference.

You can get the clean bumpers without the rubber strip on them too. It really cleans up the look of the rig.

eeehm little off topic maibe if its stickermaterial we usually use a carameldisk its made of some special kindah rubber and fits on an electric drill
it makes a big mess but does remove the stickers without harming the paint

i've seen someone take the clearcoat of his stock aloys and use rubbing compound and an electric hand held buffingmachine to get the wheels shiny like chrome he did say he would never do it again though since it was a hell of a job to do

anything planned on the engine?

been reading some interesting stuff with a project called "the grenade" on some turboforum
the guy blew up a big dollar engine and just for giggles is now using a stock 350 engine with a cam he found somewhere 2 stock T3 turbo's out of a buick mounted to some tubulair manifolds he migwelded an mega squirt injection on a basicly stock tpi intake and a 50 schot of nitrous at 3000 rpm .
the total tread is about 150 pages long where i am now he actually drove this setup with a if it breaks it breaks state of mind on the track to 9.89 in a 3500 pound 3th gen firebird using semy slicks and a build turbo 400 with a trucktype B&M converter and its still together the car tested about 600 some hp and even more torq on the dyno
he never touched the engine itself other than check the oilfilter for particles and taking the heads off to check the valve seats and de gap on the toprings wish needed to be big to prevent them from butting its a 2 bolt cast everything and the blowby is tremendous hes running 22 pounds of boost on a normal headgasket and isnt using any ARP stuff.

now this might be a bit over the top for youre project but i think the T3 part is interesting there comming ontoo boost at about 3000 rpm meaning there kindah small for racingpurposes but verry nice on the street , you might not even need a STS setup in the future but build one youreself on a budget , the parts needed to rebuild these turbos are about 60 bucks and the turbos somewhere between 25 and 125 bucks at the junkyard im not behind my laptop right now but i give you the link later on

if times get better again for me i like to go that route on a 305 i have in an older truck , i will put an enginedaiper under it though before taking it to the track
