Sweet Blazer. How'd you smooth the cap like that? did you peel off the stock skin/handle and replace it with aluminum or stainless?

My luck I'd forget it at the gas station again. I've lost two of them there in the last year.

tvblazer78
03-26-2007, 10:33 AM
I went and got a new cap from the Auto place then put some spot welds on the back side then took the plastic handle off and welded it up on the front side, then took the grinder to it. It will be painted black like the blazer. That was a pic that I took right after I made it.

Thanks for the input.. I see you on here helping out everyone, you beat me to allot of the tech threads good job on that.

Trav

Thanks! I try to help!

Here's the other option I was thinking of for my cap to prevent my stupidity in leaving caps at gas stations.

It might take a little trimming on the tube, but it would be nice and smooth.

Are you still running the leaf spring set up with just a single spring to line up the axle? I was thinking of doing this with my 47 1/2 ton and I'm curious to see how it works for you. Any plans of a track bar?
By the way, I love your Blazer!

And about the Darth Vader. All my friends called me Darth Blazer back in the day that is pretty funny that you said that.. O ya paint was $4500 10 years ago. It is just time to have some updates and touch ups done.

Thanks for all the good reply’s.. I hope to get this thing on the road soon. My wife was in and out of the hospital for the last 5 weeks when her first surgery did not go as planed, so 5 surgery’s later I think we are back on the road to get better. So not much has been done lately.. But the weekend things are going to get done…

With the back end flipped and still having the leaf springs, it can't fully drop in back can it? and it's not c notched either?

So how far down does it go, just like the standard flip kit 6 inch drop in back, and your air bags raise it up so it's not bottomed out on the axle and ride's better or can haul the family or stuff in back?

I just never seen it done that way, usually when one's bagged it's laid down all the way around. I like the setup though just wonder exactly how low or how much lower then stock the back goes. Looks like it lays down on the axle and that's it.

IMO it'd be a great setup for myself on a truck, flip kit of whatever, yet if you are going to haul something or don't want it to bottom out raise the back up some. As for the front of course you could take it up or down to look good or to not hit anything.

Now one last question lol, that front system all bolt in? no welding? looks like it.

tvblazer78
06-11-2007, 07:12 AM
Chris you are right the front end is all bolt on parts, and for the back I have a flip kit with 2" shackles so it will just set the axle on the frame. So I think it is 8" drop from stock, I have big tires on the back so it looks like it dose not sit that low 275x60x17. Thanks for all the input and if you need any more info just let me know.

Thanks,
Trav

Will do Trav, I freakin love that things it's beautiful, love it being nice glossy black underhood, it just looks fantastic, the fender wells and firewall done that way.

I like that bolt on kit I can handle that part for sure lol. I don't have a welder, but I like the air bags, mainly since you can raise it up to drive. Roads here suck.

Got it on the road, I took it out for a bit tonight and it ran and road very good on the air ride. I just need some time to play with how much I need in the front and back. It is just to fast going up and down with the air, I am going to get reducers for the air lines too see it that will slow it down. I will get the hood and bumper back on later this week.

Man I am so happy to get it back on the road..:metal:

Big Block, you are right it's about 2" off the ground. But when I drive it's about 5"-6" off the ground. That's why I love air ride. I had my exhaust put on today and I had to drive it up on a rack, if I did not have air ride I could have not made it up on it. The guy exhaust place said you are not going to make it up on the rack and then I hit the air and it went up 6" made it on up with out hitting anything, that guy did not say anything but you could see it ( Holy SH$$) with his lips. that was so funny...

Thanks,
Trav

Thanks man..

I am running the stock tank, I think it is 25 gal's. I had to cut allot of the frame off to make the roll pan work. I am not sure if you could make a hitch fit with a stock tank and roll pan. You my need to look into a custom tank that is a little smaller.

Good luck!!
