View Full Version : First Annual East Tenn Meet and Eat
woodridge 04-05-2007, 11:42 PM :ennyd: :four: :five:
O.K. it's official. With the votes in, the "First Annual, Norm's Knuckle Bustin Fall Bash" will be on the the first Saturday in September. So let the plans begin.
I feel with two events in West Tn and one in Middle that it is time to have one in East TN. Looking at the calender of events starting in March at Yellow69's there is something happening about every other month through November with the exception of September. This is open to everyone and will be another great opportunity to get together and put faces with board names. It will be a day of Ratchet Jawin, Ratchet Wrenchin or whatever else suits our fancy, so Drive your Pride and Joy, Beater, Dailey Driver or just whatever gets you here. Bring your appetite and your favorite family style beverage and I'll supply the rest.
There is a thread started over on CGITC (http://www.chevygmcclub.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=296) with a poll for three weekends in September. Let's talk here but please poll over on the Club board and take a look around while you're there.
The event will be at my house, we are about 5 miles north of Maynardville. It's about a 25 minute drive from the last traffic light in Halls.
So far here is the list of those who have indicated they are coming. So I can start finalizing plans,If you could let me know for sure (I know things come up) and how many will be with you it would be greatly appreciated. Also, I don't have everyones first name so if you could help me on that it would be great.

71SWBChevy 04-05-2007, 11:57 PM Well David I have been waiting for you to start a thread about this ever since Craig told me you were planning one at Bryan's last month. I can't say yes or no right now but once you guys decide on a date I should be able to let you know something by the 2nd or 3rd week in may once my boss posts the baseball tourney schedules!
earl87gta 04-06-2007, 12:25 AM Wish I could amke it Im using all my vacation in one go this year for the new baby that will be here within the next day or 2. Boss man wont let me have a weekend off unless i use PTO time.
Ron 586 04-06-2007, 02:16 AM Count me in and as always it don't matter when. Once the date is set I will mark it on my list of things to do. See you next in Maggie valley.
woodridge 04-06-2007, 10:51 AM Earl, congratulations on the new baby! I understand about the time off, maybe the boss man will get a soft spot and let you off anyway.
Drew, I won't set a date until I get some polling results. All those weekends are good for me at the moment so we'll see when the mostus can make it.
Ron, I know I can depend on you.
71SWBChevy 04-06-2007, 11:17 AM As long as I have a decent heads up and we don't have a major baseball tourney that weekend (which we shouldn't, sept is pretty slow) I should be able to swap with one of the other guys if that isn't one of my off weekends
earl87gta 04-07-2007, 10:07 PM Thanks,
Never know maybe I can get off that day. We just had a guy quit so that is going to make it even harder for me to see a weekend off.
weeeeeeeeeeeeeee another one yay. off to check out th epoll
bring this bad boy back up to the top, It'll be here before we know it after the national meet.
woodridge 06-13-2007, 11:18 AM Alright, see post one. It is officially Saturday September 1. We will start when the first person gets there and ends when the last one leaves as long as it's by 9am Sunday morning or they can just go to Church with us. There is ample room to camp if you want to, nearest motel is about 20 minutes and others about 40. Norris lake is 10 minutes if you want to bring watercraft and play before and after the meet.
woodridge 07-09-2007, 08:00 AM OK, now that Mo is behind us let's get things going here. I need to start getting a head count so I'll have enough eats.

woodridge 07-26-2007, 09:40 PM royo 2-maybe let me know what to bring- drinks -etc
All you need to bring is your favorite family friendly beverage and if you have an easy desert I don't think anyone would object.
phlegm 07-27-2007, 04:42 PM 5.5 hrs. I might can make this one, heck the C10 might could make it too. If I bring a compressor, flush and a can of 134 I might can break even on the labor .lol.
woodridge 07-27-2007, 06:39 PM 5.5 hrs. I might can make this one, heck the C10 might could make it too. If I bring a compressor, flush and a can of 134 I might can break even on the labor .lol.
You're on the list then no backing out. I have AC equipment so come on and we'll see if we can make you shiver on the way home.
Ron 586 07-28-2007, 12:20 AM Now to further muddle this mess. When you first posted about this meet Luv and I were going to carpool. Then Roxanna entered the picture so no problem I would just make the trip alone. Now I can't drive any distance so my wife will have to drive me so that would mean add one to the list. But I'm still holding out for carpool with Luv if Roxanna don't go. For the record Naomi don't really want to make the trip but said she would to keep me from trying to drive it myself. So that's where I'm at will let you know more when I do.
LUV2XCLR8 07-28-2007, 06:30 AM When you first posted about this meet Luv and I were going to carpool.
Yeppers, that was the plan. But after my wife spent yet even more time
around the wives (David and Steve at Norwood) that she mey last fall at
my cookout the more she felt comfortable. So she is still on the fence at
this time. I don't know about the rest of you guys but my wife interested
in this stuff is a major step in the right direction. Like I said above I wont
know until about 2 weeks before if I am solo or not. Hope I can help you.
woodridge 07-28-2007, 09:08 AM Ron, as you know, Naomi is more than welcome and would have a good time. I appreciate her willing to keep you in the mix, she is a good Woman.
LUV2XCLR8 07-28-2007, 09:28 AM Exactly :metal:
Ron 586 07-29-2007, 01:49 AM Yes Naomi is a good old girl and will do anything she can to help me. So I'm going to try to maybe turn this into a little mini vacation and see that end of the state again if she thinks mom is up for it. Naomi don't like to leave mom here with Aimee so she has to go along too. So make that 2 extra mouths to feed.
LUV2XCLR8 07-29-2007, 07:45 AM Family Road Trip, ever seen National Lampoon's Vacation? :D
gdhall_1999 07-30-2007, 07:16 AM Family Road Trip, ever seen National Lampoon's Vacation? :D
Naomi is just glad she will be driving so they can stop and see the sites. I know from my younger days my dad (Ron) only stops for gas, you better do what you have to do then or hold it until the next fill up. lol. Now mind you that was about 20 - 30 years ago he may have mellowed out by now.
LUV2XCLR8 07-30-2007, 02:25 PM  That sounds like him
Nothing wrong with that. That's the way I am too. No patience, let's hurry up and get there.
gdhall_1999 07-30-2007, 08:57 PM :tj: Ya he used to only travel at night too, and he always wanted us to try to get some sleep. Now that I have a wife and 2 kids I understand that logic. I can make so much better time when the wife is asleep. I'm a wimp, Tuscola Il. is about 3 miles from being half way to my Dad's house, and there is a Holiday Inn Express. We leave after my wife gets home from work and stop there for the night then do the rest in the morning. A little side trip down memery lane for me, getting woke up in my grandparents driveway in the morning and going in to a breakfast fit for a king (and enough to feed an army). man thinking about it I can almost smell the food, and feel my arterys clogging from the bacon grease grandma fried everything in. ok enough of the thread jacking. good luck with your meet/cookout, later Glen
woodridge 07-30-2007, 09:04 PM Glen, just jump on I-75 and head south, get off at exit 112 and you'll be here in about hmmmm 8 hrs.
Ron 586 07-31-2007, 09:40 PM Yep, night time travel was the plan for two reasons. Get everyone asleep so I could drive fast, and not have to listen to are we there yet. And the fact that not many of my cars in the day had A/C so it was cooler at night. And it is strange that we always got to moms at meal time. I remember her cooking too son, and miss having all I could eat put before me. I better shut up before I get in trouble.
gdhall_1999 08-01-2007, 07:32 AM I remember her cooking too son, and miss having all I could eat put before me.
Ya I have learned there is a BIG differance in all you CAN eat and all you SHOULD eat. lol
LUV2XCLR8 08-01-2007, 03:12 PM Are we there yet? :D
Ron 586 08-02-2007, 09:10 PM I'm Back!!!!!!!! Lost everything, all the pictures, all the address book with everyones phone number, starting out with a clean slate. Will try to catch up.
Good to have you back Ron, that happened to me a month or so ago also.
gdhall_1999 08-03-2007, 12:28 PM I'm Back!!!!!!!! Lost everything, all the pictures, all the address book with everyones phone number, starting out with a clean slate. Will try to catch up.
E-mail sent glad your back, Glen
LUV2XCLR8 08-04-2007, 11:58 AM Just 2 words about future pictures -> Back up :(
I have almost everything on CDR's, just in case ;)
Ron 586 08-05-2007, 09:46 PM I sure learned a lesson on this one. But we will go on and start again Will have the camera ready and get a lot of pictures from the meet that is coming up. So better get busy and get caught up on my chores. Later.
LUV2XCLR8 08-06-2007, 02:26 PM Not slamming ya Ron, it happened to me 3 years ago, just words of advice ;)
Ron 586 08-06-2007, 03:05 PM That's the way I took it. I had most of my pictures on a disk thanks to Lewis so not a complete loss.
LUV2XCLR8 08-06-2007, 04:07 PM
68Stepbed 08-06-2007, 07:11 PM I can't beleive I'm just now seeing this thread! I need to spend more time on here.
Well, count me in. I can't stay away when it's this close. You never know, I might just have the blue pearl done in time. :metal:
Ron 586 08-06-2007, 07:43 PM Cool! Let me be the first to welcome you to the event. Sounds like it's going to be fun.
68Stepbed 08-06-2007, 09:18 PM Thanks Ron. I've just been so busy lately, I haven't had alot of time to lurk around on the site. I've always wanted to go to Bryans, yours and Craigs cookouts, but never seem to be able to work it out. This should work out well. I'm looking forward to meeting some more board members.
I was thinking about you Matt, I was ready to disown you if you didn't make this one :)
