I'm going at my first attempt to restore some vent windows, and the rivots got me. What kind of rivots or tools do I need to put everything back together? Good old pop rivots are clearly not right but maybe somone out there has a neat trick I would like to learn.
Thank you in advance,
Adam

Boy these are a witch. I gave up on mine but I read on here a while back that someone devised a visegrip with an adapter on the end to press the steel rivits in. Good luck and if you find a way to do it post it here please.

I don't use the tool that they sell at first. What I do is use a series of punches to gradually form the flare then after its flat I will use the tool to curl the edges down. If you use the tool from the start ,You tend to flatten or set them in crooked. It takes some practice as these rivets are not that soft. just go slow and they come out looking good

I used pop rivits and they seemed to work fine. I added a few washers on top of the rivit before putting it in the rivit gun since the nose of my gun did not fit between the rails. Once the mandrel of the rivit broke off, the washers fell out.
