Fine69 and I were talkin on the phone, and I got to thinkin... we should plan a convoy of sorts to get to the board meet. I know there will be plenty of people cruising I-70 to get there... this way, not only would we look bad-ass goin down the freeway, but if someone's truck craps out... they'd have lots of support, spare parts, wrench turners.... etc.
As of right now, neither Mike, nor myself, can commit to going, but we both want to real bad though. Even if neither of us is a part of the line of cool trucks goin down I-70... you guys can plan it anyways and pull it off.
Plus, another idea... there's plenty of people who live along the way, that I'm sure would want to go, just don't have the fundage.... I wonder if there's anyone who would want to pick up a board member on the way out and back... maybe help out with the petro bill.

Anyone think any of these ideas sound good... or have I been chained to my tool box too long huffin the gas fumes?

I think it sounds like a GR8 idea I will get back with you guys on it. Don't have time right now.

I Am in the same boat as you for commitment but I do have parts that need to go that way anyhow.

I would love to meet up with a convoy. I would have lots of extra room on the way out also.

pretty much thats what us NC/Va/Md/Tn folk are doing. Tnblazerk5 has no way to get there, so we are picking him up along the way. Cents and Red are meeting us in Tn and traveling together as well.

Some of the Tn folks are planning on traveling together as well.. so Ohio people.. no excuses, we expect to see ya there..

and Andy.. tell Mike his arse better be there

Carpool, rent a van, rent a gas miser it don't matter how you do it as long as you get there. Not showing up is not an option. Just make it happen. It just won't be the same without you.

well, like I said, I REALLY want to be there. Fundage shouldn't be a problem... but I would feel like a total schmuck if I showed up in a rental car instead of my truck, and as far as that goes, I don't quite trust it for that kinda trip just yet.
Liz... I will tell mike. He pops on here from time to time, I'm not sure if he has access at his newplace... but I already sent him a link to this thread, I'll probably call him this weekend, so he'll either see it here, or I'll tell him first.

as far as not in the truck, you gotta be joking???? mike showed up to indy in a honda with fart can exhaust.. I drove a dodge, josh was in an alero, james was in a ford.. do you think we care? Noone would think less of you for anything but not showing up

I could take I-70 to the meet if I go so if the truck decides it's not ready for the road...I can be towed there by another 67-72 chevy or GMC.If I cant go,I could still drive to Terre Haute and wave as y'all pass Missouri bound

My number is here on the board and I will have someone I can contact for two roll backs and probably most any kind of parts that you may need. I am 1 hour SW of St Louis just off of I44. I am 2 hours from Boss's. It's a nice wide two lane from Rolla on US63. Speed limit is 65.

You guys coming down I70 will need to hit I55 South in IL to come though St Louis and then you will get onto I44 West just into St Louis.

 Be some wavey, hilly, and curvey roads in them Ozarks , but nothing like Tenn, Kentucky, and Virgina where them three come together. You hot rodders will feel right at home once you are close to the party , pardon me . I aimed to say Meet.

Just a reminder to all you folks that are out a ways but want to make the meet. If you plan early and book your flight Springfield Mo has a large airport and you can fly in and you will be picked up. Or if you wish you can rent a car at the airport if you don't want to be picked up. This event will only happen once and you only get one shot at it. So do try to make it and be part of this truck site history.

I can get to Indianapolis in 5 hours if I drive from house. It is right at 2 hours to Boss's from my house. So if my adding is right it is about 7 hours from Indy to Boss's with a couple of short stops.

I'm in for any sort of convoy. Not sure yet what I'll be driving. Have another '68 showing up tomorrow, and depending on how road worthy it is, I'll either be driving it or swapping it's body onto my nearly completed chassis and trying to drive that. Worst case scenario, I'll be in my yellow S-10.
