View Full Version : I need a ride (board meet)
Longhorn Man 05-24-2007, 02:45 PM OK... I was gonna be stubborn, and try to drive my junk clear out to boss's place... however, something else popped up, and I'll be needing to hop on a plane shortly after the meet, so i don't have the fundage to get my rig to multistate traveling standards.... and in reality, the petro bill would cause problems too.
I know mudder was/is needing someone to drive one of his rigs, and he was saying in chat the other night, that going by his place (which is off the freway by a bit) doesn't really add much in miles, truckers use that route to avoid the scales all the time.
So what I need, and what I hope for, will be 2 seperate things here.
I was planning on dragging along with me a large 4 or 5 man tent, a large canopy, naturally a cooler with beverages/food, a tail gate that i want everyone to sign for me, an army duffle bag for books/clothes/hygene stuff ect.... and naturally, assorted junk in addition.
Now, that being said, I can naturally reduce that load QUITE a bit... however, if anyone will be coming through here on friday morning with room for all that... I can help with your petro bill, give you a canopy to park under/hang out under, a tent to sleep in, and a cooler full of ice to keep your drinks/grub in. Naturally, we can take turns at the wheel.. while I beat the crap outta my junk, longhorn jeff will verify... I won't abuse your stuff, even if you are sleeping/drooling on your chest in the passenger seat.
With all that being said, that driver could also help out randy (mudder) by taking me to his place so i can cruise in his S-10 the last couple hrs of the trip.
I *REALLY* want to make this meet... there's quite a few ppl I want to meet, old friends on here I want to visit, and I haven't been to a meet in quite a while. However, it just isn't feasable with the next trip so close in the meets wake.
Any takers?
You guys have no clue how much it sucks havin to bum a ride to the event. :(
LUV2XCLR8 05-24-2007, 04:01 PM I could probably swing it, but it would be alot longer of a trip, and no idea
waht time you would get pickd up Thursday, yes that's the only day, and
no idea when you would get back on Tuesday, again the only day. Sorry
Alvin 05-24-2007, 04:07 PM If my friend that has said he'll go flakes out on me, I could do it. I'm driving out Friday, coming back Monday. Don't know yet if it will be the '68 or the *cute* S-10.
phlegm 05-24-2007, 04:44 PM Look at all the free stuff you get just for taking him out there, WOW. If someone picked me up all I was going to offer was a PBnJ sandwich and a pack of Nabs.
ttt for ya
Move back to Texas.
I am not much help. But you need to be there. You're like royalty on this board right? Top poster and all.
Longhorn Man 05-24-2007, 06:19 PM Ain't movin back to texas... no way no how. Sorry. ;) royalty?? :haha: I dunno bout that. I do *in my own mind* NEED to be there though.
LUV2XCLR8... Since I would be bummin a ride, i am at the mercy of whom ever it is I ride with. So if rode with you, I'd be standing on the curb at what ever time you told me to. However... I highly doubt there will be much need for anyone to go too far outta there way. I live just a couple miles off of I-70, and I am certian some one will be rolling through Columbus headin west.
Adam, You'll be headin down 71 to columbus and pickin up 70, right? (as in... .I'm ont he way?) we'll see if your buddy flakes. I have lost track on your 68... how close are you on it?
phlegm... LOL!!!! I guess I could offer a BP&J samich too! :haha:

dwaite72lnghrn 05-25-2007, 10:10 PM Yhea I got as far as winchester VA and the truck was upto about 230 degrees so I cooled it down and turned around. Maybe next picknick. Who knoes the way they are laying off in my company I might have alot of time on my hands soon.
LUV2XCLR8 05-25-2007, 10:13 PM Well it's 1st weekend in November this year, we have mild falls anyways ;)
FleetsidePaul 05-26-2007, 02:03 AM You're like royalty on this board.
Is that what Josh means by "Hail to the King Baby!"
RACINJASON22 05-26-2007, 02:36 AM Andy I'm still pounding away at the trip and every thing looks good execpt the back pain. Just had a disc-o-gram at 6:30 a.m. thursday morning and I have too see what they say about that as far as other dr.'s appontments.
I would have the room as I will be hauling only an engine and nothing else on a trailer or pickup if i can swing it that needs dropped off at Crash Ed's place along the way and picking up some parts there. I'm trying to figure out a way to haul a cab two swb bedsides and two fenders and such in the back of an 8foot bed  some kind of platform has to be made. Any ideas?
Cab on top of the to be made platform and bed side slipped under that fenders in side the cab after. I think It will work :metal:
Lets see what the doc says and we just may be able to make this thing work. AND if the doc has bad news who knows I just may have a project 72 swb fleet side truck for sale :( and be looking for one that needs alot less work cause my back won't take it.:whine:
I WILL LET YOU KNOW ASAP:metal:
Respectfully "your most humble servent" ;) royalty

Longhorn Man 05-26-2007, 07:33 AM Is that what Josh means by "Hail to the King Baby!"
now THAT is funny! :haha:
Jason.... your plan sounds good too, and I can help load stuff.... while your back is gone... mine's just ggimp. ;) between the 2 of us, we could have a keystone cops type experiance.
RACINJASON22 05-26-2007, 05:49 PM Andy, Crash Ed is in about the same place I am back pain wise :(
Or atleast I think we are pretty close there abouts.
He has means of loading things at his place though but, a couple extra hands are always good when using a tractor and not wanting to get things damaged.
Like I said before I WILL let you know ASAP. I really don't like cutting things close when someone else is involved, I don't and won't leave you hanging. :)
You are one of the members that I would like to meet very much anyway so it would be bad bad bad of me if I could help and not do it.

Longhorn Man, glad you got that squared away so we don't have to run a lot of out of route miles to get you there. Stop by the CGITC hospitality trailer where I will have plenty of Dew iced down. Looking forward to meeting you and a lot more in the short 3 days we have. See you in Mo.
