View Full Version : Bodywork?
I had a few small items from my blazer that need to be fixed. Was wondering if anybody was bringing a welder to the meet? This is mostly for us losers that don't know how to do small bodywork.
Thought they could make a little money. Don't want to take away time from painting Boss's truck pink.
May be inappropriate to ask.
HuggerCST 06-13-2007, 10:27 AM I'd be glad to show you what to do, or at least what I would do, but as you have probably seen, we have very few people that have volunteered to help work on Boss's truck, (3 or 4?) so that will keep the ones that have volunteered pretty busy. I plan to help with the bodywork, but will have my wife and kids there too, and hope to have plenty of time to mingle and get to know everybody in the 36 or so hours that I will be there. Ron has offered to bring a welder,(Thanks Ron) so I believe we will have one there. Boss has been very generous in hosting the meet, especially with his health problems, so I feel like it is the least we can do for him.
Definitely, like most meets when we start working on Boss's truck a lot of people will join in, or stand around and make fun of the ones that are(I've experienced that one).
I just need the bottom cup fender patch welded on a fender and my 67 grille has been pushed in a little bit.

well, you know for some of the guys we've hung out several times before and you have to know who are the ones that can take it and the ones are are going to be throwing tools at your head. They're lucky, I'm one of the ones who can take it :)
guys dont fret :) there are alot more then the few who are listed involved.
bryan i like the idea alot, its what the site is about.. helping each other and im sure others will learn and share what they know as well.

Norm knows all about that.
Yes, we were both on the bad end of those jokes
Ron 586 06-13-2007, 02:27 PM To who it may concern. I have a shop full of tools that due to medical reasons I am unable to use right now. I am willing to bring anything needed to the meet. All I need to know is what do you need. I'm bringing 2 air compressors, a mig welder and a 4 ton porta power. A variety of jacks and jack stands, and air tools. If you need anything else ask and if I have it i'll bring it.
LUV2XCLR8 06-13-2007, 04:13 PM :haha: LMAO at Woody and Bryan :haha: (I think I was the main one supervising)
Ron, I appeciate it and I'm sure Boss does too. My problem is I have no clue what tools would be needed to do the job. Obviously a welder for the fender patch, which I'll probably just get there from GMCPaul. No clue on pulling out the grille.
cory321 06-13-2007, 07:32 PM :hm: I have a 10lb sledge hammer that will straighten your grille up
elcaminosteve86 06-13-2007, 08:23 PM to staighten the grill you will need to have a body hammer and dolly...well depending on how far its pushed in
Here's a pic of the dent in the grille.
I'm not using the trim, so I was also going to have to weld over the holes.
elcaminosteve86 06-14-2007, 07:02 PM on the chrome? yea just a body hammer and a soft dolly
cory321 06-14-2007, 07:05 PM I have a cheap set of harbor freight hammers and dollies.I dont think they will work to well for a grille though
Pickles 06-14-2007, 07:09 PM bryan just bring them, i'm sure someone will do it for you
Ron 586 06-15-2007, 10:41 PM I have a hammer and dolly set from craftsmen that I bought in 1968. It's a good set will also bring other related tools to do the work with.
