I am doing the same because I canīt affoard a paint job. Here are some examples that I found on the net. liljon285 07-11-2007, 12:14 AM Ok... So Im In! Bob 68327 07-13-2007, 06:43 PM I guess I should have wrote suggestion for new contest. I don't have the power to make it real !!! I'm one of the new guys!!!!!! krue 07-13-2007, 06:51 PM I don't mind a truck with the original body/paint/rust. It's when you spend hours and dollars making a perfectly good truck look like that, it's  . It would be like sending a young lady to a plastic surgeon to have wrinkles and sags applied, it just don't make sense. longhorn71 07-14-2007, 02:23 AM I don't mind a truck with the original body/paint/rust. It used to be primer black .... slapped some green paint on and took a scotch bright pad to it. You be the judge, personaly older trucks look kool with this look if it's real! IMHO. Hot Rod black (primer) saves a guy lot's of money and I would take this over no paint. esll.:) streetstar 09-07-2007, 12:46 PM I'd like to change the classification for my truck from "rat rod truck" to "Roach rod truck" http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb285/streetstar707/KX5-honey011.jpg Stock ride height -- obviously needs rockers and floor pans--- ubiquitous for a rat , Clay Smith and Moon decals http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb285/streetstar707/KX5-honey013.jpg Gas tank/ tool box - bed mounted -- original finish. as gauge is a long wooden stick http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb285/streetstar707/KX5-honey012.jpg 4 speed granny tranny and a 250 I6-- later model seats to keep it comfy for driving, but those will get tossed soon for the original seat Truck is fun, but i dont know if i want to committ to it or not -- plans were to replace floorpans and cab mounts - bag it and call it good Too many other projects to deal with this one other than occasionally driving it, but i had to respond when i saw a "patina contest" 72BlckButy 09-07-2007, 01:35 PM Ain't nothin' like patina! jamis 09-10-2007, 08:22 AM I think there is difference between a patina paint job and just plain needs paint. Patina is really a description of oxidation on non ferrous surfaces. On steel its just plain RUST Just like the fine line between a rat rod look and unrestored pile of junk. twinturbo51 09-30-2007, 09:36 PM Heres mine.I just like the fact that after 56 yrs it still together. I am leaving mine alone so that the people at the GM plant can remember what real sheet metal looks like. Its not on the road yet but im working on it. http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o242/squeek03/Picture018-1.jpg brianthelion02 10-03-2007, 02:18 PM http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l241/brianthelion02/DSCN1016.jpgHeres mine!!!!!!!!! twinturbo51 10-03-2007, 07:17 PM Nice chunk of Iron you have there Brian....Looks like its in pretty good shape.I wish mine had the turn down handles. brianthelion02 10-03-2007, 10:12 PM Thank you sir,it is fairly solid, neat old trucks!!!!!! |
