Well, I had a local shop owner come by today to check out my truck and throw me a ballpark estimate for finishing the body work and priming and painting it. Here are a few pics:

Basically it does have a lot of little dents, srcatches from sanding the original paint down with 120, and other little things, no rust at all though. What he would do would be to finish the body work, there are a few things that need welding, put a proper primer job on it inside and out, and send it off to a maaco to have them spray it with the color i requested (hugger orange) they would be painting the inside of the cab, and bed, and the outside of everything else, and it would be the high end paint job that they offer. He quoted me @ $2500.00 approx for everything, and re assembly (the doors are being removed and put back on, and he would just put the rest of it together aswell.) Do you guys think that that is a fair price or should I continue searching?

If that includes the Maaco paint job, and is good paint, Id say that's fair. I did one just like it a couple of years ago, for $1500 with me supplying the paint(not cheap paint). I changed the cab that he supplied, did all of the bodywork, and painted it inside and out. If I had to do it again, I'd probably charge around $1500 plus paint and supplies, which have gone way up in price over the last couple of years.

If its a at all reputable shop---that is a good price. Myself doing backyard type paint work would charge about the same or more.Paint is expensive---

I am suprised he will finish it over your body work. Not saying you did anything wrong, there is not a shop around here that will warranty a paint job that someone else started with going back down to factory paint or bare metal. $2500 is a good deal price wise.

$2500 is a great deal, I remember charging customers more for just blocking and spraying without reassembly. Maaco is fine paint as long as the prep work is there, and it looks like he does good prep. Follow your gut, it's a good sign he came to your place to look at it before estimating, but you met him and need to make the final decision. Just keep in touch while he's doing the work to keep surprises to a minimum.
