The great carbonated beverage debate.
Since we have our own nifty sub-forum dedicated to food and the like - I wonder what my fellow gearheads call their favorite fizzy drink in their neck of the woods?

So, what is, and where you posting from and such? Any reasons?

For me, in the generic form - it's just Coke - no matter what brand, what flavor, usually just Coke. When in a restaurant of course I am specific, but in general, those four letters do the trick.

"I'll take a coke - and make it a Dr. Pepper."

"I want a cheeseburger, with no cheese and only ketchup and french fries and a toy. I want pepsi that isnt pepsi but tastes like tea in a cup with a bag and napkins"

Liz - that is funny stuff right there.
Of course, when we were kids, mom and dad just didn't dare taking us to Mickey D's - we ordered enough to feed the neighborhood - just me and my brother. (All drinks aside) :D

I honestly could count the number of happy meals I ate after the age of 6 probably. We killed some food.

Its always fun to order a Coke or Pepsi and get the mystery drink when it gets back to the table. But I think all fountain pop is pretty gross in and of itself. Kind of all taste the same.

Around here its name specific or pop for the most part.

Well I've lived in VA for all of my 33 years and (I say) we call it soda, or its specific name. I had a roommate in college from Pittsburg. He kept hollering about pop this and pop that and I thought the dude was seriously missing his dad. Come to find out thats what they call SODA up there...

Dr Peeper was around first and it`s from the south,so why not call it all Dr Pepper?
I call it whatever it is.I guess I call cola "Coke" out of habit. But,I call it all what it is since there are so many different flavors of "soda" and versions of other soft drinks like seltzers, spritzers, and other flavored high fructose water drinks.
Basically I avoid it all and bring my free water, order water,or iced tea that`s been brewed.

When I was a kid in NW Oregon, it was always 'pop', but you specified the brand...

After 36 years with Mrs Stocker (Tenn. & Midwest), it's 'soda' -- but still gotta specify the brand.

edit: For 20 years, it was Barley Pop. I shoulda owned Budweiser stock. I finally kicked that habit, but I still miss it....

Soda..However, I think the south is rubbing off cause it is starting to be coke more often. Of course I normally do Diet coke when I drink them, so that may be the case.

"Yeah what do we have?"
"Coke, Mountain Dew, and Dr. Pepper."
"Throw me a Mountain Dew"

I call them what they are. Just a habit to me. I worked in a retail gas station in my youth and had to stock the coolers so the proper name game stuck with me.

There's some neat stuff on there about this.
But it is always cool to see your own samplings.
Especially amongst our own - never know what you need for the next board meet.

Over here if you order a cola you get whatever they are pumpin.
Coca-Cola, Pepsi or some kind of German brand.

If you want a sprite or Dr Pepper or some kind of special soft drink you have to order it like that.

Order a cheesburger without cheese and they get pissed for some reason.
