I hope someone has some other ideas but I thought these meats would be worth a try for some of you.I posted Machacado in my nightly menu thread and if you can find it it's different but worth a try.I've never had it fixed any way but sauted with a little oil in a skillet and mixed with eggs.I don't know if there are any other ways to fix it but if anyone knows of one let me know.To get Machacado you will have to find a Mexican Market. Many do not carry it but ocassionally.Good luck finding it and enjoy.
Chorizo is a Mexican sausage. You can get a very generic type in many supermarkets. It is somewhat spicy and unless your kids are used to that or really like spicy stuff I would not recomend giving it to them if they are young. It is also pan fried and may be mixed with eggs, used in con queso(cheese dip) or a refried bean dip.The best Chorizo I have ever eaten came from a Mexican Market in Atlanta(actually in Marrietta) off of Delk.I don't remember the name of the market but they also have a small resturant there. Most Mexican Markets will carry Chorizo but get the market made if you can.Just for info most Mexican markets have a butcher shop in them.
